After months of brutal working hours, I have an evening to myself & I keep checking emails to make sure I am not missing something I was suppose to complete. Is this what i have come down to? Any tips or suggestions on how to not become this person?

I’ve been talking to my therapist about something similar. It’s helpful to think about what I want long term and what I can do now to get there. For me, I want balance in my life and to feel empowered to be able set boundaries and my own expectations. (Have already proven myself as a high performer and I still intend to work hard - I just plan to do it on my own terms) Some actions I can take now to work towards that are logging off at a reasonable time (acknowledging that I’m some seasons this will be later) and maybe checking my email once after that. I’ll only respond to something urgent. I’ve also benefitted from being mindful about what I prioritize and also allowing myself to choose to relax in the evening and take that as personal time as opposed to feeling like I am constantly on call. It’s taken a lot of effort to rewire my brain to allow myself to not feel obligated to worry about work constantly

Been struggling mightily with this. Can never relax. Even in weekends. Feels like i am always on call which I know isn’t the case. But since weekend and evening work is expected when needed I always am checking.

I recently decided to slow down communication with one woman on my team because she is constantly trying to have social conversations about her personal life/beliefs and it was super distracting.
