I’d check out openrent.co.uk for pet friendly places. They’re listed by owner landlords mostly and they’re usually a little more flexible because they’re human beings. Estate agents…less so.
Look on Hackney Wick spaces on Facebook - great for shared housing and sub let options (not just in Hackney).
Renting in London with a dog is very difficult! Which is strange because generally, you can bring your dog anywhere in London. Newer buildings run by a management company are usually a flat “no”.
Even on Openrent, owners are more inclined to go with someone who doesn’t have a dog oppose to someone who does. I brought my dog over and was lucky enough to find an owner that needed to rent quick (the building was not happy about the dog) but since then, We’ve not been able to move. We’ve put in offers over asking price on a dozen or so flats this year and been rejected from every one because of the dog.
I hate to ask this because I couldn’t dream of leaving my dog behind, but depending on your length of stay, it may be better to leave the dog in the US. The forms and regulations to bring the dog into the country are also quite intense.
I brought my dog to the uk. Many people said it was a bad idea but I never regretted it as London is such a great place to have a dog. You can take them almost anywhere. This was a few years back, but I found my flat on gumtree from a private landlord who wasn’t using a letting agency. I think it’s the letting agents that are the real barriers so you could try this. Just be cautious that you like/trust the landlord as you’ll be dealing with them directly. Good luck and welcome!
Hi, I can’t help with pet friendly units but curious how you went about your search to get sponsored? I’m in the US looking to relocate to London. Any tips and tricks? Thank you and good luck in your flat search!
Yeah I genuinely don’t know how I did it, but I have a very niche specialization within media so it may have been hard to find someone with my skills in market? Idk, I cried when I got the offer because it was more than I was expecting lol
Came here to vouch for open rent
For finding pet friendly apartments check out the build to rent sector: Fizzy Living comes to mind. They typically have pet friendly units
