After purchasing a house we want to do some interior cosmetic work, in which order we should proceed? First refinish or redo the bathroom, then change tiles/counter top in kitchen, update light fixtures, install carpet and paint interiors.
Please advise if any of the work needs to be done before the other?

Anything with tile work first (creates a lot of dust), paint, and then carpet. Carpet being last so you don't get tile dust, remodel guys walking around on it, or paint drips/splatter. The light fixture during/after the painting, so you can assess if the hole needs to be different than your previous fixture you can paint where needed.

Thank you, paint before or after carpeting?

I say before so you don't get paint drips on the carpet

Ok thank you

I got hit with a Covid layoff. How discriminating should I be about my next step? I've got about a decade of experience in big law, general commercial lit. I've wanted to go in house for a few years, but positions for pure litigators are few and far between. I'm applying for in-house and firm positions, and also a few firm administrative roles that I don't want to do. Should I just take anything I can get? I'm ok on savings, just worried about long term career impact.

Hello, how much does an analyst /associate/entry level management consultant make in Germany? I am in Munich and I earn around 56k/year Gross. What are your thoughts?

Quick vent, would love input: I’m an attorney working for a state-wide nonprofit. I’ve been crushing it this year and have been very successful in obtaining favorable divorce and custody orders. An OC (who is generally a terrible attny) just filed a bar complaint b/c I requested attorney fees, arguing they shouldn’t be allowed b/c I work for a nonprofit. The fee request is warranted & allowable. My manager thinks it’s a compliment, but I’m anxious. Thoughts?

So possibly silly refinancing question: my understanding of refinancing is that if interest rates lower, you basically start a new mortgage with a new bank at lower rates and pay off your old mortgage. With this, there's some closing costs associated.

Assuming your old bank doesn't want to lose your business (aka, interest payments), why don't they offer to simply reduce the interest rate on your mortgage to what they're currently offering customers?
