Work 70-80-hr stressful weeks and know that you have 5 weeks pto of which you can only take 2 weeks without really thinking about your job. Sounds much better than 12 weeks pto with 40-45 hr weeks. Of course you know already that you are going to make partner so why even bother considering potential CFO position since that is not guaranteed either.

I think it depends on your current QOL and potential QOL at this new place. If you're miserable, negotiate salary as much as possible and take it. If you're not, stick it out another year or so and wait for an offer you can't refuse.

You know what I mean. Douche.

It's all about those vacation days. I'd do the math and say you need to have 25 days or a salary increase to make up for it with the ability to take unpaid leave

like

Update: further clarification resulted in 90k with 13k annual bonus potential with clear metrics in 2018. I also feel confident that I can negotiate for 3 weeks PTO. I'm feeling like this offer is sounding better

like

More vacation. 12 days, wtf

like

7k more for half as much vacation and possibly less work... doesn't seem like the best deal but I guess if it's a career move you really want to make, may be worth it

like

PTO is usually standard policy folks. Aren't you all in public accounting and audit companies with employee handbooks?!? 😜

like

Pass! 12 days PTO??? Weak

like

Seems low. Less work ?

Are you tax manager now, or thinking you'll be promoted in July? If now...I suppose it's dependent on office/location...but I'd say you're underpaid.

@MA1 I appreciate the sentiment but I don't think you know me :). FTR - I have always felt valued at Moss Adams and think its probably the best firm to work for in PA. I will miss a lot of things about this place.

Genuine question. Could you please share some examples of concrete changes implemented in the past year to make SEA a better place? E.g. for a long time I didn’t know you could take alternate week one night PTO off - which is a good thing. Asking this because I worry I might be missing out on some benefits like this 😀..

I currently work for a small litigation firm that is merging/being acquired by a somewhat larger firm (but still fewer than 50 attorneys). Was wondering if anyone in a similar scenario has negotiated compensation and how that was received? Had an interview at a firm where they have an unlimited vacation policy that’s just “speak with your deal teams in advance to get time off”. Anyone actually know in practice how many days is a normal amount to request in a @year? My current firm gives you 20 days and very much pushes you to take those days, so just wondering if anyone at a firm with a similar policy takes around 20 without issue.
