I'd say it's also the same as only seeing Black peers as Chief Diversity Officers. Businesses have such a long way to go to diversify their leadership teams, and I'm hoping the current climate will inspire that.
We are underrepresented in the positions that have true influence and power to lead and change. Period. Diversification in every form is still woefully lacking at the board level in most companies.
To be fair, men tend to choose higher paying jobs like CEO, lawyer, doctor while women tend to choose lower paying jobs like female CEO, female lawyer, female doctor.

And often Marketing (CMO). Hardly ever CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, CTO or anything associated to revenue generation/P&L ownership.
I didnât take it that way just wanted to point out that marketing does at times have p&l responsibility
As an intern I was on a project that was like 90% reading proxy statements. Another female intern and I would keep a tally of how many companies had more men with the same name than women or POC on their boards/exec teams. It was a lovely introduction to corporate America.

Don't forget Communications (CCO)!

But that's usually not a female.
AlixPartners- female CFO, female General Counsel, female global lead of turnaround
Weâre not perfect. But itâs a good step!
Either HR, Finance or Legal đ

Right, I completely agree. Definitely want to celebrate that (Iâve also seen so many men at the helm of womenâs products đ) but still a bleak picture everywhere else.
the only career that does not have mommy penalty or mommy track slowdown is that of a physician. And they get to maintain professional respect all the time.
I cried today morning as I realized that I will never have the same professional regard, mastery or chops as a man or woman who did not slow down to bring up their kids and balance out the family time commitment with their SOâs career.
I canât begrudge those who put in more into their career, whether through skills or politics and networking. As I look back, I realize the opportunities I had which I didnât recognize or capitalize on, because my brain was occupied with the much narrower, emotional focus that day to day operations and logistics and caring and nurturing require for a family life. My horizon was sooo small, I had to be content and complacent with just surviving in jobs and bringing a paycheck home.
I used to be a topper in my class all through school and college years. While there is plenty of blame to go around especially the crappy politics at work and power plays at work and home, most of the blame rests with me -
For not realizing how devastated I would feel after the kids leave home and I look at my career. I should have taken my career more seriously and intentionally, looked beyond the crappy jobs, and demanded more at work and at home. Looked at long term trends in my field and made sure I was capitalizing on them. But where was the energy, time or motivation then to do this? It was just enough for me to keep my head above water and make sure my marriage and family stay intact.
We women should definitely fight age bias, because after 45 is our time to shine and make up for the lost years!
And that 1 lady (or a few these days, depending on where youâre looking) is always white. Sigh.

I know - howâs that diversity?

I think we are more underrepresented in CEO/ COO/ CFO/ CTO roles than CLO/CHRO/CMO.
Despite most of the C-suite at my firm are men. There is two Sector GM, COO that are female. I will say tho the SVP (one layer down) has a good mix of both genders. It will take time as the old is replaced with the new. Iâm optimistic though! The change just doesnât happen overnight.

Is also furstrating to see black people only as Chief Diversity Officer.
Smh.
And Culture and Diversity & Inclusion!
