Does anybody have any advice when applying to postings with many applicants and getting noticed? The company I am interested in is Figma, and though I reached out to a few technical recruiters after applying through LinkedIn, I am wondering if there might be something more I could do that maybe I’m not thinking about. Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect

@VP ACD The money that came as a result of the win certainly wasn't told to be patient.
How often do you follow up? Have you talked to HR? Is there a timeline? Lots of promotions happen at the same time every year depending if your in a big holding company or not. Get answers and a timeline. Ask if anything will be retroactive
@VP ACD, thanks for the good advice. I've followed up a few times with my GCD, only to be told to be patient. I haven't involved HR yet... though now I feel I should.
Have a conversation with your boss and HR, and then send a recap email to them of what was just discussed and get your boss to confirm. Promotions are cyclical but this rule is broken all the time
As soon as something is in writing it makes everyone take this mor seriously. But also start looking for other jobs to use another job offer as a leverage, or to jump ship in case you're being taken advantage of.
Suggesting second-guessing yourself is not a good strategy to support a woman in advertising, we're doing it already Strat 2. If she feels like she was a crucial part of getting that much dough, she should get what she was promised or at least clarity why she didn't.
I would probably have asked 3 months later (Jan) for timelines and followed up in April. If you haven't asked for timelines yet, you should do that ASAP
You shouldn't. Get another job. Never stop looking for a job.
I wonder how many others in same or other functions felt like they "spearheaded" the multi million dollar effort ...and if any of them got or are getting a promotion? I thought in general it's performance over time across multiple efforts that get considered for promotions. New biz in general is a significant cross-functional team effort ...
@Strategist 1 - thanks. I thought about defending myself and then realized the person that would post that kind of response would never hear it anyway.
Look for a other options
My pleasure. Good luck and keep us posted if you can!
It's an open forum and if your comment sounded off for at least two people, then it could have been the same for more. Felt like I should have said something as this is a very tricky thing. Just be careful with how you phrase even the most well-intentioned things 😜
Jumping ship is always an option. Especially in an industry with like 25% turnover or higher. However, when something that seems obvious to you isn't happening, seek to understand the "why" behind it. If the why is company related then sure - jump ship. If it has something to do with your manager's perception of your performance ...sure jump ship too, but it's likely to repeat itself.
@Strat1 my comment had nothing to do with male / female dynamics. And again, remember, I am entitled to my opinion ...which doesn't always need a counter response from you. Odd behavior.
OP, unless a male coworker busted their ass on this and were promised a promotion and got it, but you didn't, there are no real grounds for bringing gender into this. I think from a how long to wait perspective, your boss/company is running out of time to make good on the promise. Pitch was last summer and promise was made 4-5 months ago. If you wait more than 6 months, it might as well be considered your annual promotion type of thing versus an extra special recognition for something that soon will have happened a year ago. As others suggested, push for a explanation and timetable on it, say you'd like to set up expectations for both sides and on where your career is going at the company. Privately, start looking right away at other options as those take a few months to materialize as well, so you're ready (if you want/would leave), if the promotion doesn't come by end of April or something.
