After submitting a job application, personally how long do you wait before not hearing any response that you take the intended job out of consideration and move on? (Not counting those random out of the blue jobs where recruiters hit you up 2-3 months later after you’ve applied.) I’ve been on the hiring end so I know how the processes work, so I give it a week max now as an applicant. I wanted to ask what everyone else’s personal timeline was?

Until I have an interview…. I don’t even consider it in contention

Honestly it depends on the organization. The bigger the org/company the longer I will wait to hear back. In my experience the more people the process has to include the slower it moves. However if it's an independent practice or something I usually give it max 10 days. I try to be accommodating but you've also got to move on with your life.

I wait a week for the first follow-up and another week for the second. I'm sure it's a bit much for some places, but others have appreciated what they see as enthusiasm for the role. Like others said, though, considering the size and nature of the organization is crucial, too.

helpful

Depends - I know some places have had hiring freezes, others have been hiring non-stop. It seems like it varies but I usually expect to wait up to a month before I hear anything

like

I usually wait like 10-14 business days

helpful

I wait about 2 weeks total. However, if I haven't been offered at least a phone screen after a week I pretty much know that's not the position for me.

helpful

Exactly, tbh I just stop expecting stuff after the first call and am pleasantly surprised when something comes through

I would say two weeks max. Sometimes I follow up with the hiring manager to see if the position has been filled.

A few weeks. I'm a recruiter hiring PTs. What state are you from?

IQVIA took 1 year for them to give me an offer. They would use Aston Carter who would send a WhatsApp message once in 3 months. Wasted a year with this then said to the manager at the final interview "I'm a fresher and so i will not be able to answer such questions".. i aced the test rounds 🤣 i regret nothing.

Be assertive. Ask what the timeline is. If you have a personal deadline for some reason- another offer or whatever- let them know what it is.

Recently I got invited to an interview with a decent growing company. I work in Executive Search and I am thinking of switching to in-house recruiting. During the conversation the recruiter made some weird assumptions about my current job. The interview took longer than expected and I feel like I have not delivered well. Was I wrong to expect in-house recruiter to understand the differences and similarities between in-house-recruiting, professional search and retained executive search?

I have a very specific question. I’m traveling to London and I am pumping. The hotel will supply a fridge but not a freezer. They are telling me it is against regulation to freeze my ice packs. Does anyone have a solution that has actually worked?? One time I cried to the hotel manager and they took pity on me and froze the ice packs but I don’t know if that will work again. The hotel is a Hilton.
