I have traveled a similar road, I too am in health care but in a University setting that has a whole other layer of bureaucracy!! I worked up from assistant, learned every position, and finally ( during covid) became the manager of 19, and making a decent wage. There is no real respect from any of the administration even though I held my team together during covid and worked everyday through covid. No extra pay or any real recognition. My team KEPT THE SCHOOL OPEN for the community emergency patients, and our patients of record. I have had all I can take to the point it is becoming a health issue.
I've got to believe there are places that will appreciate the dedication (15 years here!) that some of us show to a place.
It is hard to find loyalty anymore.
Yea it’s terrible it’s everywhere not just in healthcare but IMO companies just suck these days they are hard to find a good employer that value the quality of work you do and that actually pays you equal to the amount of work done not just making you do everything plus their damn job and everyone else’s job. They want you to go above and beyond and here’s nothing for it but saying your amazing, the best, great job your number 1.
We won’t have it anymore we want compensation for our hard work. These admin/managers have something coming to then when they let the hardest working employee leave. Now you can get to work!
We must and will move on! Do not settle. find something that deserves your time because in the end your giving up the most valuable thing for them your time.
Ugh… why I’m in private practice. I LOVE it. Was totally burnt out prior, but… I never want to leave my current place! Also bc the partners give me the freedoms to really run the show and really lead from the top down. Culture is awesome, providers are … providers lol some are cool and a trouble maker or two are expected lol but I enjoy going to work every day! Get into private practice if you can bc with your experience and endurance in the field, you sound like there’s excellent opportunity for you to be a really wonderful boss and leader!
I’ve worked for a toxic business before. It’s especially off putting to me when members of a leadership team throw each other under the bus. I would say, if you can try to document as much as you see and hear, I would make sure to have that stored. Honestly, if you can stick it out as long as possible, from 1-2 years, I would make sure to leave a big red circle on the calendar to start applying to other, less toxic workplaces. I made the change to a hospital system and I noticed the difference between the levels of professionalism when the stakes are much higher.
I believe it! Take care of You!
