I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since.It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?

Roughly $33k per year out of pocket to cover two adults and one child. My one tip is to support the adoption of a single-payer healthcare system.
Actually a pretty good hmo with modest deductibles, but it’s still a tough pill.
Is this universally true? At my firm our insurance goes up every year for everyone because we have a lot of older partners with health conditions

Not universally true. Equity partner in v50 here. Insurance still mostly subsidized. I agree that it isn’t always the gold mine it seems like from the outside. Also is true that at a lot of firms, partners have to get their own insurance.
This isn’t the point of this thread, but would you mind sharing what other expenses you now have as a partner that you didn’t as an associate? Did you have to make a sizable contribution to the partnership when you joined?
You could look into Obamacare as an alternative. (I’m serious.)
Mine is subsidized and I still pay $26k as it is based on my salary.
