Agency recruiter contacts me on LinkedIn, has a role for me if I’m interested. I reply, then she asks to have a call the next day. I give her a time to call, and never hear back. That was a week ago.

Had a similar situation. Recruiter emails me. I respond same day. Nothing. I write a week later. Nothing. A week later. Nothing. I figure I have nothing to lose, so last week I write, “Ohh, i get it. You meant to write someone else with my exact same name who does my exact same job, and you’re too embarrassed to tell me.” Got an immediate reply to that, and an offer to set up a interview. Apparently my previous emails got lost in the spam....yet somehow the snarky one got through. Hmm.

Proactive ghosting is the worst

Follow up if you’re interested in taking the conversation further. Just ask if they’d still like to talk or if the role has gone away. I really appreciate those reminders!

like

Has happened to me twice. Different recruiters.

like

@producer I chat with them tomorrow. I’d love to ghost, but this is a head of talent at one of the “cool” shops, so I have to at least poke around. Gotta love the hoops we jump through to make freakin commercials.

@copywriter 1 - I’m sorry that’s happened to you. And @Sr. AD1 - that’s a great name for it!

like

What’s with the lack of courtesy? And doesn’t it give a bad first impression since the recruiter is the contact of the agency?

like

Wieden and Nike? Get out

like

@Director - thanks, I agree, it’s unfair to judge the agency by one recruiter’s actions.

like

Ghosting is the newest form of flattery. Or so I tell myself

like

@copywriter 2 - that’s awesome, I was tempted to send a snarky email in response to the ghosting. Did you interview with the recruiter or ghost him/her?

I would ask to interview you too for that, it’s funny

What cool shop? Now I’m curious....

☝️I can’t be that forthcoming unfortunately. Can’t have the agency figuring out who’s trashing them here. I’ll say that the agency is good and the account is one of the brands that makes you think about getting into the industry. So although it’ll be tough to get me to move, I gotta entertain it and take the call.

Honestly a lot of recruiters are really bad at following up. Don’t let a bad experience with an in-house recruiter turn you off from an agency in general

She or he may have left the company and no longer has access to that company's Recruiter Account. Or maybe they were fired. Or maybe they're on vacation. Or maybe he or she had a baby. Or maybe he or she did send you a message by mistake. Or maybe they are just plain bad at responding. Who the hell knows.

It’s even worse when it comes from the agency recruiter!

Deloitte: I see there is an HR policy that allows you to go 60-80% whenever you want to/in any role so long as there is a business case. Does this ever happen in consulting? Is it more likely to be approved in certain groups/with certain skills? I’m thinking it might be feasible to stay here if I could could go on a reduced schedule after baby 2. If that’s something I could work towards and prepare for in the year or so prior, I’d like to set myself up well for it! Any insight is appreciated!
