First year (started in August) I had about 10k in commission. First quarter of year 2 I’m already at about 12k. A mix of contract and direct hire fills.
Nice!
$6k my first full year and then transferred to another site and then only $500. Not much commission in my role obviously.
$50k+ bonuses on good years but it’s a GRIND
50-55 first 2 years, 45-50 after that
What a very bizarre question to ask? and is there a purpose for asking?
Don’t knock someone’s question
The answer to this question will vary because some agency recruiters are 100% commission and others get a base + commission (far less if you have a base)
It can take a while to build your file as an agency recruiter, sometimes up to a year, but in this insane market, if you’re good, you can easily earn $120-300k a year (in NYC).
I've been doing this for 7 years and it's been as low as 6K my first year to 50K on the high end
A lot. Roughly 60% of my income is commission based. My first year I believe I only made about $11k in commission. At the peak of my billing I was making 3x my base salary in commission
First year was about 60k after taxes (not including my base). British companies in the U.S usually have incredible commission structures
This may be far fetched. But I would advise to get niche as possible. Figure out how to source the best talent for a few roles in high demand, and get a good mentor that’s willing to help. My first year at a large firm I made total 80k second year I made 135, third year I made around 250, and fourth I made 340. Then pandemic and such. I decided to walk for a tad less for less hours and getting out of the major firm life. But I was able to pay for that decision with the ground work I’d put In.
