You go cbs and I’ll take your Wharton money?
I would 100% base my decision on personal fit with the program and student / alumni base. You will have to live it for 2 years and will be part of the alumni base for life, the better you fit in it the more advantage you are likely to take of it. The $40k should not make a difference in the long run.
Fully agreed with the above. That $40-50k is probably a wash considering the higher COL associated with living in NYC to begin with
Can you please share your stats

What is giving you the most agony?
Tuition costs, prestige, fit, personal factors like family. Etc.?
Give your goals with location preference and full ride, +3 for CBS.
You’ll be able to achieve your short-term goals. The CBS brand is strong and Columbia overall brand is on par with Penn. While I don’t think the difference in scholarship is that significant in the big picture of your life (30% is maybe $50k more at CBS than Wharton) I do think that the full ride line item on a resume does stand out a bit. The new campus is amazing too and not shared with undergrads.
The reasons why I could see someone picking Wharton over CBS are wanting to get out of NYC for a few years, wanting a larger alumni network, potentially better chances in PE (but I haven’t compared employment reports tbh), an individual’s personal trust in the US news ranking gods with Wharton tied for #1, and sense of personal fit.

Wharton. CBS cost of living is higher such that the offers are pretty comparable and Wharton is the stronger program
