Agree or Disagree? Remote teaching = more parental involvement. If you agree, do you think this is for the best, or are they getting TOO involved?

I’m seeing an equal number in each side, and both are bad for the student. Either parents who are giving students all of the answers, or those who don’t even ask if assignments are done.

Disagree- At my campus those who chose to do remote learning are not showing up half the time and many are not completing assignments. Some refuse to turn on their cameras and show no evidence of learning other than they logged in.

like

yeah, it's def a mix. the problem is the parents who don't care and the student can do whatever he/she wants

Yes, virtually learning promotes a lot of family engagement for the parents who are not at work.

Do you think your peers bill their time accurately? I’ve been using the timer on my time management website and trying to keep myself honest for my Instagram breaks, but my mentor (I’m a first year) said he just estimates time based on how many hours he worked that day. Our NYC V-5 firm always does block billing so it’s incredibly easy to say “8 hours on matter X”. Anyway, especially with work from home increasing distractions, do you keep yourself honest with billing?

This fight has gotten real! I’ve been offered a job, advertised as remote, but they want to have a blended program with teachers on campus. Small school, 10-15 to a class... maybe, masks ( I’ll have to ask if they’re mandatory), distancing and a continuous cleaning staff. Sounds great but I’m 62 with 5 underlying conditions! Have to negotiate a contract Monday... I’m hoping I’ll be able to work on-line as NV is one of the growing hotspots in this Pandemic!

Suggestions on how to effectively tell a roommate we’re both WFH in a small space? Mine was gone for 3 months (bliss!) & is now back, calls/music on speaker in the living room and generally just takes over any free space. I have a desk in my room, but it’s tight so the living room used to be my reprieve to take a break. I ask for help on messaging because I can be a little too blunt which doesn’t go over well for some 😬

Hi. I have a question. In a world where COVID is under control, how would you feel if your companies went back to being fully in the office? But maybe others were adopting a hybrid model- some days remote, some days in the office. Would it make you want to work elsewhere? How important is being able to work remote (at a location of your choice, not at client /travelling) a few days a week to your job satisfaction?

Put on Fourtet on the family speakers. Always funny when other people are exposed to what you're jamming to at work. Funny thing is, parents don't seem to hate it... yet. Next I take over the remote!

here's my prediction. If Biden wins, the media will begin to message the following; -The worst COVID risks and outcomes are to people with identifiable risk factors such as obesity and diabetes. -Most other people who catch it will experience a bad flu. -Many other people who catch it won't even know they have it. -It's not commonly transmitted by touching objects and person to person transmittal is low risk except in close contact. The media will then message that we should; (cont'd)
