Agree or disagree. The majority of people, while flawed, are decent people just trying to do the best they can for themselves and their families.

I think a lot more people are selfish and angry than you’d like to admit.

I’m guessing it would more/less follow a normal curve. I think policies should address people in the fat middle part of the curve and not be designed to benefit or punish the outliers at either end. It seems like my conservative friends especially spend a lot of time worried about people 2 standard deviations from the mean in either direction.

I wanted to think that, but the last five years or so have helped me see things I can’t un-see and made me less optimistic and charitable in my view of others.

I “took the red pill,” but not in the sense that they think - I now see that there are many truly hateful people in our country who take pleasure in the suffering of others. I don’t think they’re a majority yet so I may technically agree with the OP but that doesn’t give me much comfort.

Agree with this.

Majority of people in general vs. majority of people who say, participate in the political process, or the ones you see on the news/in power, are not the same thing.

As a whole, we have pretty low engagement of the population in the political process, so it almost doesn't matter what they think if they don't show up, even if they are just good hardworking folks

This is something I believe despite many notable emotionally salient examples to the contrary, but it’s why I support liberal policies. I believe the average person deserves policies that help make their lives better. You should not have to be extraordinary to have basic health care, quality public education, and a living wage.

I don't know about that. Poor white people seem to vote against their own interest based on the fact that it hurts minorities more than it hurts them.

I believe an overwhelming majority of people are decent at their core - decent meaning they know right from wrong.

When it comes to doing their best for themselves and their families, I think a large percentage of people tend to operate selfishly.
