Citi - SVP Salary Expectations for Tech / Controls
Looking at some SVP roles for technology / controls in the Southwest region. Glassdoor indicates $185-240k as range base comp, and target of $185-205k for average base. Is that accurate?
Glassdoor also targets $40k for variable comp. average. Is that accurate?

I understand that parents want autonomy to make health decisions for their children. I understand that some people do not see masks as a public health measure but rather a political identifier.
But here’s the deal: We’ve been wearing masks long enough to accumulate data from retrospective studies, prospective studies, and controlled experiments. Statistically sound metadata analyses of masks show them to be part of an effective continuous prevention campaign against CoVid. (For just a few of them, look here: https://pws.byu.edu/byu-covid-19-and-masks and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7253999/). The research shows masks protect yourself and those around you.
It’s that last part that moves this from an issue of bodily autonomy to a problem of public safety.
It works on the same legal principles as the laws restricting cellphone use while driving. Except cellphone laws are even more extreme. Restrictive cellphone laws infringe on an individual’s freedom of expression, freedom of speech, and autonomy within a private space (the automobile). That’s normally a recipe for the law to be overturned by the courts, but cellphone laws persist. Why? Because using a cellphone while driving risks not only your own safety but also the safety of innocent people on the road around you. And the right to life and safety is an instrumental value that leads to other rights. A prerequisite. Therefore, the right to life must be protected when these rights conflict or none of them exist.
Mask mandates, in contrast to cellphone laws, do not invade on private spaces and are only minimally intrusive on the right to expression. There is no constitutional basis to come out against mask requirements when much more restrictive laws have already weathered constitutional scrutiny.
Short answer: disagree.
Thanks for the Pro Life argument
Schools have always had dress codes, or even uniforms. We can tell students they have to wear close-toed shoes or skirts a certain length, but now we can't tell them they need to wear masks during a pandemic? That only makes sense as a way to score political points, not as a way to provide a safe, consistent environment for educating children.
No. Local school boards don’t really have the choice because he’s threatening to withhold funding.

@CMS I understand why you think that this is a personal issue regarding mask wearing. But the problem from the standpoint of the school is quarantine. Once a school meets a certain threshold of students and teachers who are absent then we will be forced to go all remote. In my opinion that is the worst thing that could happen this year outside of a student or staff member dying and it is virtually certain if you leave these decisions up to the parents.
Once we start having to mass quarantine then the athletes are going to bail out of returning to school because they will not want to be forced to quarantine from sports as a result of attending school. Then the other students will follow suit and we will be back to teaching empty classrooms by November. This is exactly what happened last fall in NJ and we could not get the majority of students back into the building till May.

@OES It is important to realize that the high school situation is radically different than the elementary school situation. My children were in elementary school last year and hybrid functioned well, there were only two planned closings around Thanksgiving and Christmas and almost all of the kids attended.
Last year at the high school level we spent November through MLK day remote largely due to the sociopathic behavior of teenagers, and the larger society which enables it. Then I spent the next three months teaching to empty classrooms because students opted to stay remote so that they didn’t have to quarantine from sports because of close contacts at schools.
Perhaps vaccination and not having a remote option might change this dynamic but I am doubtful, I suspect we are going remote this year fairly early.
We all wear masks- students and staff from pre K to 12 in my district. If the parents don’t like it, their kids can learn in the virtual school that we have. I don’t mind teaching with a mask at all. We are not going to beat this virus unless we all get on the same page.
Same page should be vaccinations, not masks
I believe that the parents should make the choice. What DeSantis is doing is giving American CITIZENS A CHOICE. Last I knew we live in a FREE country. This government is trying to change our country to be dependent on them in most all ways. Go Governor DeSantis Help our citizens keep, our freedom
Blame DeSantis? A judge just did, said he has no power to enact a mask ban. Based his ruling on scientific Facts! What a moron he must be one if those liberal judges, who reason things and thinks logically. FLA is a great place to go to. Just don't get sick or need anypatients. a hospital because they are full with Covid patients.
Good for him! It should be a choice. Remember “My body my choice!”
Says the state banning abortion
I am so over the argument. I am just going to say WWJD (what would Jesus do). Now I don’t attend church and don’t consider myself highly religious. However, I think he would vaccinate and wear a mask to protect others.
Connecticut Elem….I am like you having been raised Catholic, yet I have not been comfortable attending church, so I attend the streaming. We also have to make appointments to attend. I do think we are trying to be inclusive yet respectful follow the science.
The governor is putting politics before safety. Look we have laws against smoking in public because of second hand smoke. The smoker has every right to smoke and potentially kill himself, but he does not have a right to expose me to disease, so how is masking to keep our spit from each other any different? Many smokers and those exposed to 2nd hand smoke never get cancer or whatever and not everyone will get covid who is exposed to it. Some people get and beat cancer or covid and some die. Kids are germ carriers anyway, be safe, wear the masks and get vaccinated!!
It is unfortunate that individuals who feel their personal "rights" are being violated have lost sight of the fact that they belong to a larger community and have responsibilities to that community. Once we lose our obligation to each other as human beings, we submit that we are lesser as a species than ants and more like the very virus for which we are not the fodder for proliferation. We have lost our right to call ourselves superior to any other life form.
Very well put!!! Thank you
It will make it even more challenging to get anyone to wear masks at all. The parents and children that have genuine concerns about the potential dangers of the delta variant and it's high transmission rate will be much less likely to wear their masks. Social proof is a psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others in an attempt to undertake behavior in a given situation. The concept is also known as informational social influence.
And as for kids with dirty masks, we help kids with dirty clothes, don’t we? The schools I’ve worked at had supplies to help kids and their families. Disposable masks are easy to keep handy. Businesses do it.
Absolutely. If they homeschool. If they send their children to public school, they do not have the right to choose to put other people’s children at risk.

In my district, the numbers aren’t show a lot of movement away from school buildings but in larger cities: Dallas & Houston…there absolutely has been a shift to homeschooling due to fear of the virus.
That is stupidity at its worst. This should not be a political issue . It is about the health and welfare of people.
If you are a science teacher and know how to read, not only is this a GREAT decision but a patriotic one. No one, not even the president, and I use the term loosely, has the constitutional right to make you wear a mask. Get vaccinated if your over 30 or if you have comorbidities and go on with your life in the USA!!! If you want to wear a mask, you can, remember this is the USA and it's your body and your choice!

Do they have the right to make me buy car insurance or follow traffic laws or pay child support or pay taxes or obtain a builders permit? Getting vaccinated and wearing a mask is the cost of entry of engaging with society when a pandemic is ravaging the world. If you want to live in the wilderness and not get vaccinated or not wear a mask, all of the power to you. If masks and vaccination were enforced with the same seriousness as speeding violations there wouldn’t be a peep out of anyone. It is precisely because it is not seriously enforced that there is a debate.
Disagree with FL Gov. Covid and it’s variants are around for some time. I hate wearing masks but I will for sake of in person teaching.
"Your Grandma should get Covid because she might not die and freedom... But that 13 year old needs to keep her rape baby and you can't smoke pot. Wanna get a beer? America!"
I’m glad that my school district is requiring masks for all employees and students
It’s the same in Texas. I think we should be more cautious, but it is what it is.
DeSantis needs to be recalled
My district is requiring that all staff and students wear a mask. I don't like wearing a mask but I like to follow rules.
Now that's funny! Because teachers are closet anarchists usually.
Poor Florida children. How many will have to get infected? How many will die ? When will Florida get rid of Dr Santis?
DeSantis is a fascist neo-confederate.
I don't like wearing a mask but if that's what needs to be done, I have no problem doing it. I don't care if the government, CDC, or my Dr. tells me to do it, I will do it. Why? I am not a scientist, virologist or Dr. I am a teacher, they know more than I do and get paid more to make those decisions. Now if a governor is saying something that the Dr.s and scientists don't think is right, go with the scientist's. The Governor of Arkansas has already admitted making a mistake with banning mask mandates. Why? 1 week of school and already 838 quarantine students and 10 staff. Very low vaccination rate in AK too. Recipe for disaster. The only way this gets better is if it stops spreading.
Thank you. It’s as simple as that. Let’s do what we need to do to get through this.
