Here is a link, OP. The challenge is for 18 paid nights in a 90-day period. If you meet that, you are Platinum.

Try calling SPG to complain, politely, and request that they reinstate your status. Tell them that you are surprised given the two firms merged that they would treat a valued customer (who travels a huge percentage of the time and who has choices) in this manner due to an apparent technicality or lack of coordination. You are the exact sort of client who they want to keep happy, and it's worth a shot. Be sincere, nice, and assertive, so that the customer service rep sees you as someone who he/she wants to help.
Platinum challenge is something that you sign up for that will give you platinum status for a year if you meet a certain hurdle (x number of stays during y weeks) who demonstrates you are a frequent traveler who is a particularly desirable customer.
Was exec plat at Marriott. Linked the two last year. Got plat at spg. Have been staying at SPG for the last 7 months. Now demoted to gold because Marriott demoted me and didn't earn enough with SPG alone to stay at plat. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkk!
First-World problems......
P1- what is the platinum challenge?
Been on the phone with these morons for the last hour. They keep telling me the same thing. First convo "accidentally" disconnected, second and third was disconnected on its way to being transferred over, and this is the 4th try. I am so frustrated with this now.
On top of this, their SPG app isn't working so I can't look up the account number and somehow the account doesn't pull up when I type in my phone number.
What a great way to start my sat morning!
P2- I signed up for that last year. The f**ked up part is that I signed up for it in aug and the status is maintained until the end of the calendar year. Also linked the Marriott account so the platinum carried over until Marriott got downgraded this month.
