Fire is basic financial literacy with a specific goal. No steroids about.

YES!!! 🔥

I don’t think that’s true...you can be very financially literate but decide to spend more money on comfort upfront

Recently arrived to visit my aging (mid 60’s) mother. The last time was a year ago. For the last several years each time I visit there are visible cob webs all over the ceilings and walls throughout most of the house. I try to address it as an issue that needs more attention but get laughed at and gaslit. Her mental stability is quite concerning. The house is falling a part too with many repairs needed and unaddressed.

Thoughts on how to handle?

Does anyone know the answer to this? - My first mortgage statement was generated on 11/2 with a due date of 12/1 and includes a month of interest based on the balance on 11/2. I made a principle only payment on 11/14 of $500 which was applied right away. Will the interest automatically recalc to reflect a lower outstanding balance for a portion of the month? I plan to do this every month.

Just signed the offer for my exit. Getting a 30k+ signing bonus, and would like to hear thoughts as to some good ideas to invest this to maximize my potential.

Some ideas I had is putting some in a ROTH IRA and the rest in a high yield investment account or a VOO, as extra capital I can use to invest in real estate or start a business in the near future. Would love to hear what the bowl recommends.

I'm switching jobs and considering whether I want to roll over my 401(k). I have about $220k in my plan. Considering rolling it into an existing Fidelity IRA with a balance of about $50k. Since October of 2020, I've paid about $880 in "plan administrative fees" to my 401(k) provider as well as the fund expense ratios.

It looks like Fidelity does not charge administrative fees on IRA accounts, so that seems to make it a no brainer, plus the investment options are much broader. What am I missing?

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued

At what point would you suggest working with a financial manager to set up your investment goals & make sure you’re on the right track for early retirement? At a certain age? After you have a certain amount of $$?
