Hey folks,
I have Decision Scientist offer from Fractal (15+2JB)
And Senior Analyst (Data Science) from Tiger Analytics (15.5+1JB)
Which shall be a better choice in terms of Data Science learning?
I suspect Decision Scientist shall be more towards consulting and less towards development.
Anybody has any inputs that can help?
Anyone playing path of exile?

This is the future of how every white collar job should be.
I’m a big work from homer, but my firm is being a real dick about it. I’ve realized I may lose this battle with them, but I’m convinced my kindred spirits and I will win the WFH war.
Down with the bourgeoisie 🤪

This may actually raise wages in places like India and the Philippines if they can produce the needed talent.
I don't feel like my role can be easily outsourced to India. It's hard enough finding somebody to do what I can do in the US. If it were easier to find, I wouldn't be paid as much as I am.
Airbnb’s entire value prop spikes if people can work remotely en masse. This is more of a strategic decision to benefit the long term growth of the enterprise than anything else.

Wait, is there a single human that thinks drinking Budweiser will get you hotties?
The free market will fix this in due time. For the time being those getting HCOL wages in LCOL cities - make the most of it!
Not at all, but to put something in perspective, I was going to put 3.5% down on a 200K condo in Dallas, and the payment with property tax, not including COA fees would’ve been 2,000 PM. Which when you consider homes in the area are starting 400-500K for a basic home it suddenly seems really expensive. For 2,000 a month, I’ll just stay on in my liberal east coast bubble😂

Chase and Bank of America have a number one priority of checking daily badge swipes and reports go directly to leadership. Companies that decide to offer remote options will have a pretty good competitive advantage. Unless the companies choose to hire the cheapest, most undisciplined of employees, then you probably need to badge swipe track.
I can’t speak for chase but I know you can do the job from home at BoA. They just choose to bring their employees in to the office to keep uptown Charlotte from going out of business.
How do I get to work in Airbnb 😂
They did mass reduction in FTE within last 3 years so sure part of it is to also save costs of office (food provisions, rent, utilities, covering commute costs etc)
Any other companies doing the same?
Went remote-first at my startup.
No salary adjustments for now, but I can see the market catching up and making HCOL cities less favorable
Essentially the same model here, Twitter, and Square except there are 2 tiers of pay bands based on COL
We definitely have 3 tiers.
Damn I hope so. I’m fully remote, but we have 3 salary tiers. I’m in a LCOL, and would love that sweet sweet HCOL salary.

How much does the avg salary differ between the so called tiers? 20-30k? Is that even meaningful when you're a high income earner?
More. Sf/nyc to dallas or atlanta is a 15-20% difference in base/refreshers. Could be 6 figure differences in TC
I definitely think being remote first is the future of tech, universal comp I’m not totally sure. Coinbase has tiers (which I hate) but it does feel like most startups are offering fully remote with pay universal regardless of location.
I can’t really see a company going back from this once they announce it (would be a revolt), so if you believe that those startups are the future of tech, it just makes logical sense that that model is also the future.
I’m also in a T3 and the annoying thing is it doesn’t seem fair at all how the Geos were chosen. Austin is a T3 city, but anywhere within 100 miles of Seattle is T1, and Chicago (cheaper than Austin) is T2. We need more cities in the T2 group for sure.
Yes.
I hope so. Looking to leave NA and this would be a big help
