I just joined a MM fund as an associate... I have a birthday trip quasi-planned for December. What are y’all thoughts on taking vacation on the buy side. At McKinsey, it was very easy given u could just take time after the close of a project.

Instead of buying a second home right now, I’m thinking of renting a small place in another city in a cool, urban development. Instead of peace and quiet, it would be fun to have more access to restaurants and city activities before buying a country retirement home where the grandkids can come and spread out. Has anyone done this? It sounds like fun, though throwing money away on rent vs building equity makes me a little uncomfortable.

Agree or Disagree: The objective of engagement shouldn't be fun (although that can be part of it). It should be about making lessons relevant. Then the engagement comes naturally. If you have to make it a game for the kids to listen, then they are missing the point.
