AlixPartners practitioners! Does the firm require that their consulting folks live in a city where there is a branch office? Can they be in other cities and travel to client locations for work? Cont.

As far as I know, it mostly depends on your practice, tenure, and MD. I know some people in EI who don't live in a city with an AP office, but travel every week. I believe it may take some time to get approval for it though.

likehelpful

Don’t think you need approval unless you want reloc. Basically everyone is traveling in EI each week. When I asked, they told me to just update your address with HR.

You can live anywhere in the US. I don’t think you need a special approval. We do t have office culture. We also sponsor H1b and permanent residency (latter after 2 years of tenure)

likehelpful

Agreed.

I can only speak for EI since that’s the group I’m in. You can live anywhere in the United States and Canada. I know plenty of people in the business unit who live in cities without an AP office.

As for sponsorship, yes the firm sponsors work visa and based on tenure/feedback, the firm will sponsor PR.

like

Cont....Also, is the firm open to sponsoring work visa and subsequent permanent residency? I moved from England and currently work at big 4 with 14 yrs of experience and an MBA and STEM degree, if that helps your opinion. Thank you very much for your comments.

Thank you everyone. Appreciate the inputs.
Based on the short profile description in my original post, do you have an opinion on the level I might get mapped to? The levels and designations at AP are refreshingly different from other consulting firms, I know of. However, not quite sure which level I might fit in, from a superficial matching.

How many years of consulting experience do you have? You mentioned 14 years total experience.

Im thinking a manager at Deloitte should be hired as a SVP.

6 years at Big 4 plus 8 years of IT consulting at a Fortune 200 professional services firm

If you get SM, D should be no problem

I was working at a Hotel one night & I saw a man appearing on two different floors, then in the stairwell. The man was in his 70’s or 80’s. He was wearing nothing but tidy whiteys. When he got to the front desk I asked “is everything alright? Are you okay?” (Assuming he may be senile),He wasn’t senile, he went swimming & wanted to make me uncomfortable and started to flirt while in his sopping wet see through tidy whiteys- and of course I had to clean up the water he tracked through the lobby.
