@mck1, main "areas" are Consulting, Advisory, Audit and Tax. They're all separate legal entities, under the US firm, which is part of a global network of firms. From a legal standpoint, the 4 areas actually have even more subdivisions than those. For example, I believe Monitor is a wholly owned subsidiary or affiliate of Deloitte Consulting LLP.
Consulting and Advisory will likely merge in the next 5 years because there's a lot of overlap in skillset. In principle, Advisory focuses on risk strategy and value preservation, while Consulting focuses on growth strategy and value creation. In practice, there's a lot of overlap. For example, at banks Advisory builds stress testing models for risk and regulatory compliance, but also assists using those models to develop capital planning, pricing and portfolio allocation strategies.

Can someone explain all the areas of Deloitte and especially what is monitor? Confused
Well said D2. Believe it or not that's actually one of the more succinct descriptions I've seen. It's a complicated structure and as we've grown the overlaps have become more apparent (and subsequently confusing for our clients).
What is the difference?
Adv here. Still no word
To answer the original question - consulting year end ratings and promo decisions were official as of Friday - so these posts are all for Consulting
