All these posts about people getting laid off are making me paranoid. I’ve been on the bench since the beginning of February and scheduled to start my maternity leave 4/28. 😬

On the other hand, the optics of laying off a pregnant lady would be EXTREMELY bad for a firm. Hoping these are pointless worries!

We are literally the same person (I’m offset by a week). I tried to explain to my husband that if they’re going to make cuts, the person who hasn’t been billable for something like 8 months is going to be very high on the list

I would be anxious in your shoes too. Can you volunteer to help pull together covid 19 go to market materials?

I hope it doesn't happen to you but if it does honestly it could be the biggest blessing ever... you would have irreplaceable time with your sweet baby. The years just go way too fast.....and when you're working full-time you see your little one maybe one or two hours a day. It's just not enough for either of you.

Can you set aside money now? You’ll have the opportunity to keep your coverage with COBRA if the worst happens. I know it’s not ideal, but don’t forget this is an option! And I do think the optics would be pretty bad if they lay you off, so I hope you are ok during this! Hugs!

This is me! My utilization is 33 percent had a project go pencils down right before thanksgiving and was staffed right away but the client kept saying “start next week” till mid Jan :(. I start mat leave 5/17 and I’m super nervous too.

Isn’t it illegal to lay-off pregnant staff?

E1 - exactly my point. I’d avoid all presumptions that it had to do with pregnancy. Hard to prove at the end of the day

I’m working on two internal initiatives at the moment, helped with a couple proposals last month, and scheduled to start a 4 week engagement next week (if it doesn’t get pushed back again!). I feel like that’s about all I can do right now realistically (I’m also high risk and am in and out of the doctors office a couple times every week). We are in the midst of mid year reviews right now and I’m a high performer that’s up for promotion at year end (even though I’ll still be on maternity leave). Hoping that’s enough to “save” me.

Thanks, EY1. I hope you’re right. Your positive words mean a lot.

Your a protected individual, you will not get fired or laid off with leave papers in the systems. It would cause a huge lawsuit against any organization

Anyone know much about routers? My father in Leander has an incredibly fast Asus router, but his home is 7,000 sq ft and the signal completely dies when you go up the stairs to their mother in law suite where their tv is. Extenders don’t work well either. I suggested doing four Google mesh points but he wants to see if he can figure out with his current router. Anyone know how to set up an AiMesh router with Asus?

So far I’ve been through 1 IVF cycle. I have one embryo that is frozen waiting for transfer. My doctor is wanting me to do another round of IVF to back eggs for baby number two down the road. Does anyone know about banking embryos for future use instead of transferring? My insurance doesn’t cover anything so all this of out of pocket.

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!
