I’m an MBA. One should never list MBA behind their name as they would a designation. Running the MBA flag up the flagpole is not a good look. The only MBAs who could do this are those from top MBA programs. Thing is, those folks would not do it. Which means those from lesser programs who do it are only drawing attention to their lesserhoodedness
We are not talking about the general population. The comparison point is in the world of finance. Within financial services I think there are a lot, including 8 who work for me.
It's your degree, put it after your name if you want it. There is no right or wrong to this question, though you'd swear some of you think there is.
I'm an EA and have an MBA... don't use either on my business card but mention both on my write up on my web site
One caveat to my above comment: I include MBA after my name on my resume and cover letterhead. In a job search you have to try everything to improve your chances of standing out
MBA’s are a dime a dozen now and, more importantly, it is a degree not a designation. It is in my bio but certainly not on my card or stationary,
Yeah I'm sure you have stats about FA's with MBA's. Get off your opinionated high horse douche lol
Seriously Carroll Financial... we are so impressed with you now.... not
CFP, ChFC, LUTC, RICP, CDFA, CFA--average person has no idea what they all mean. At least MBA is recognizable and helps clients understand you sought out additional education.
Yes I use my MBA on LinkedIn, Letterhead and business card. Sets you apart from others. Doesn't hurt!
I would disagree with you that MBA's are a "dime a dozen" You have zero facts to back your flippant statement up. Know what percentage of Adult Americans have an MBA??
MM1 - Seeking additional education is fine but you still don’t put MBA after your name. You should only list terminal degrees after your name, e.g., MD, JD, PhD, DBA. Just as you don’t list BS, you shouldn’t list MBA.
Also to keep in mind, designations and degrees are advertisements for employers, not clients.
I agree with Partner. People should put their degree after their name if they want. It’s a telling choice that makes it easier for me to understand their character and mindset. I also support people riding motorcycles without a helmet for the same reason
