Almost a year into PA (will get my CPA license in Sep) and thinking about doing something else (not staff accountant or FP&A), what are my options? Think I want to try consulting or forensics.

Wrong time to switch into either of those...

AA2 and OP: I was more saying that consulting/advisory is the most high risk accounting work in times of economic hardship. Forensics is a type of advisory.

Not saying you shouldn’t do it long-term, but right now it probably isn’t the best move.

like

You can do anything you set your mind to OP! :) The sky is the limit!

Given what you’ve said tho, network with people in your office who work in fields you’d like to try. Find them in outlook, mutual acquaintances, or LinkedIn. People are bored and like talking about themselves and their jobs, especially when someone is willing to listen. Be that ear and you can learn about those opportunities and you can network at the same time. :) good luck!

Haha, you’re undoubtedly right about trapping people. Still. I would recommend talking to someone at EY. They’ll be easier to identify and more willing to talk than strangers outside the firm. And they might make a compelling case for staying, however unlikely that may be. Lol

Want to move to Colorado from TX. Position is remote and would allow that. What do I need to know? TX is a no-income tax state, with high property taxes and no rent control. Usually no snow (except the recent freezes) and where I am elevation usually isn't an issue either. Things I'm interested in is: how the differences affect work culture, tips for WLB there, unexpected costs, etc.

Went on a date that was around the corner from the guy’s apartment. We drank a good amount and I was a bit tipsy. It was a little past midnight and he walks home and leaves me on Canal Street.

Yes, I said I would get a cab but it’s also after midnight, freezing cold, I’m tipsy, in heels, etc.

I don’t care if I split a bill but for god’s sake, ensure your date gets in a car home. Even if you aren’t calling her again or whatever, wait for the freaking cab with them.

End rant.

Hey all A3 in FS Tax (I know) & I was going to get promoted this year but I don’t think that’s happening. My goal is to obviously end up in industry. My end goal is FP&A..I don’t mind taking a pay cut - should I switch to audit now ? Would I start back as an A1? I’m 2 years and 3 months into tax - I’m not pigeonholed yet right?
