Switch to commercial for better commercial exit ops.
Pretty self explanatory
Appreciate that point for sure, and it’s not one I haven’t considered, but have met some severe resistance as I’ve socialized a move to commercial, so trying to take stock of things right now
You need real world experience doing that work and no time to be brought up to speed. Was in D GPS and went commercial - it’s much faster and can be a steep learning curve
PE ops requires an under standing of value generation from portfolio companies (ie- how to squeeze value out of every penny). Government work is almost none of that. Internal resistance should be expected because you’re a resource they’ve invested in but frankly you need to ask yourself what will advance your career. Generally people who go into PE ops have deals and valuation experience and/or deep functional expertise (eg-know where to find efficiencies).
Understood on all, thank you!

Depends on what you want to go into. I know plenty of people who have exited GPS into tech, for example. In my interviews, I never mentioned my clients were government
