Booked a flight in March with chase points that I cancelled bc if covid (~75k pnts). United told me I needed to re book in a year. I called to see if they could extend, they gave me a voucher for ~$1k that lasts for 2 years. Just got a notification from chase that my flight was cancelled and they refunded all the points. I now see the voucher and the redeemed points on the apps. Did I get lucky and get to keep both or is chase/United going to realize when I try to redeem one or the other?
My parents are flying back from Seattle to India on Sunday. I don’t live there but taking them to see the city before their return. Where around Seattle downtown can I get a COVID test that can give the result in 24 hours.
Do you check emails on the weekend because of covid wfh situation/generally? Or check email but wait to reply on Monday unless an urgent response is required?
Time to lose the Covid weight I gained so that I can fit in my suits again. I've only lost 5 lbs with 15 more to go...sigh.
How do people feel about this? Last time I checked, snitches get stitches. But at this point there is more at stake? Coronavirus lockdown: Would you report people who break the rules? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-52525463
I wish millennials would hurry up and kill covid-19.
This probably looked like a good idea when one of Bernie's staffers plugged it into a spreadsheet as if it was an 8th grade math problem with one variable. Trouble is it's not an 8th grade math problem. Does anyone seriously think Elon Musk would stay in the country and happily hand over 40% of his total wealth to fund tax collection shortfalls caused by lockdowns that he was a vocal opponent of? Apparently Bernie and AOC think so. https://www.forbes.com/sites/sarahhansen/2020/08/11/bernie-sanders-renews-call-for-a-billionaire-tax-this-time-to-fund-medicare-during-the-coronavirus-pandemic/

Just curious now that a few weeks have passed, have any of you from US big 4 firms had an across the board pay cut related to Covid-19?
Anyone in the US worried about the rapidly rising COVID cases and the inevitable effects on the consulting industry? Just curious what people’s thoughts are
Hi all I’m meeting my supervisor/coworkers at a happy hour for the first time later this week after starting my first job post college completely virtual. I’m feeling pretty nervous about it since social situations/meeting new people were always hard for me even before COVID. Does anyone have any advice to help with this?
United Airlines is cutting 30% of it's workforce by October 1st. Apologies if this was already posted. https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-coronavirus-chicago-united-airlines-job-cuts-20200505-542kkmykdfbvjdefti6d3tbb7i-story.html
So I've seen a number of articles floating around recently saying all Americans (not just the priority groups) could get the covid-19 vaccines by April. Thoughts on whether that is actually highly likely? I initially thought end of 2021 was more likely, but perhaps I should be more optimistic?
Once the dust settles post COVID what do you think the hybrid model will look like for most companies with number of days in office vs remote each week?
Do people need to get stimulus checks is their job was not impacted by covid and they continue to be employed?
Question about Covid screenings. About to do a shoot. They’re doing a rapid antibody blood test that you have to pass before you’re let on set. But I thought that these only detect covid 1-2 weeks after infection at the earliest and aren’t useful for screening. Any experience/thoughts?
Anyone who had COVID or pretty sure they had COVID, have you noticed any strange symptoms long after the initial sickness? I exhibited all symptoms in late March for ~10 days and recovered. Since then, I’ve had a few weird 1 day fevers and occasional stomach issues, latest in August. Wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences.
Got notified I advanced to final round with BCG but already accepted offer with a T2 firm (experienced hire, pre-MBA). Friends are telling me still interview given I have 1 month until start date. Gut says karma will haunt me if I reneged on current offer. Hiring Managers: is this treason / guaranteed to doom me to hell? Or would you rather have me leave now than in .5 years?
Meeting with a recruiter at one of the FAANG companies. I won’t be able to move jobs because of H1b /GC at least for the next year. Any idea if I should start off with that or should I just try to understand the work that they have been doing?
Just letting everyone know that the covid 19 trend is the "covid 20"...just like in freshman year in college...if you didnt put on 20 pounds...good for you but you're not in the cool group. Please refrain from shaming those that put on a few pounds here and there.
My job was affected by COVID. I’m have a T20 MBA, closing in on two final round interviews one for a well know pharma consulting firm and the other for F 500 healthcare company as a regional ops director. I like both companies equally but looking to taking a shot at MBB in the next two years. Any advice?
My new firm has a large real estate deal practice. There is one regulatory portion that they refer out because they don’t have the expertise. I have that expertise and want to develop a team to handle. What are your thoughts on origination? They’re not my clients but it’s a new line of income for the firm. Yes, I know the “talk to them about it” answer, but I’m more interested in how other firms handle these situations. Also, I’m not a partner.
Product manager at tech company or stay in consulting? Salary the same right now. Curious about upside as a product manager, is earnings potential in executive role comparable to consulting partner?
Feeling like consulting isn’t the best career for me b/c of the lifestyle and I met someone who I hate being apart from every wk. But I always wanted to reduce gender gap, so I feel conflicted/guilty.
Health check - as analytics consultants/dat scientists, do you have a seat at the table at your firms? Do your firms see/treat you as first or second class citizens? What changes have you noticed ..
Hey folks, Has anyone transferred their H1B to another employer? How did it go, eg did you need to stop working / leave the country/ anything else? How long does it take? Anyone with a Green card in process - has it affected you in any way? Thanks!
I graduated in May 2020 and found myself excepting a Junior Art Director position in Healthcare. I never saw myself in health but with many agencies having hiring freezes I decided to get some experience and save up some money in the meantime. Fast forward one year; I’ve added a new campaign to my website and I’m starting to apply to consumer agencies again. Any tips to help me make the transition? Any place to avoid? Who have you noticed is hiring again? Thanks in advance :)
Friday motivation: just booked three summer trips on points and miles for me and my hubby, including business class flight to London. Bright side of waking up at 4:30am on Mondays 😊
Darden vs Johnson vs Ross ( No dollars) Post MBA: Location No-Preference MBB Consulting/ Product Management @ FAANG Note: I'm an international on an H1B Visa TIA!
I have an awesome opportunity to apply for a promotion that would give me additional responsibilities but a faster track to leadership. I am also 10 weeks pregnant with my first confirmation appt next week. I want to go for it but feel bad about applying when I would go on mat leave in about 6-7 months, pending everything is on track with my first appt. Wanting advice on whether to apply or not and whether to disclose the pregnancy?

What "hard truths" or insights has the coronavirus crisis revealed about your own firm and our larger industry? Let's be pretty open and honest here.
How do I get my old project to leave me alone? I rolled off, but they keep calling me in for little things. My new project leads are okay with it for now, but I want it to end. What to do?
