My oldest didn’t nap at daycare at this age. And she started daycare at 5 months, so I don’t think timing is your issue. It was tough because they don’t have a common nap schedule in the baby rooms. She would come home after work and CRASH. We started doing dream feeds because she wouldn’t stay awake for dinner. On the weekends she would have epic naps to catch up. We just got through it as best we could and gave her lots of opportunities to sleep at home and tried to soak up our time with her while she was with us and awake. It gets better once they are in a room where the whole class naps together. They dim the lights and everyone lays down at the same time. My daughter has done fine with that format. No suggestions expect to say wait it out and it will get better!

Blackout slumber pod type thing if they’ll accommodate it? Is she sleep trained?

She is sleep trained. We even tried making her room lighter at home on weekends to mimic the daycare environment. I am at a loss. I don’t think they would go for a pod. I feel like she just started at a weird age. Old enough to know what’s going on. Not old enough for one nap where everyone is napping at the same time. I keep telling myself it will be better. And it isn’t 🤪.

My oldest was in a little school right before covid and she wasn’t napping well and they kept saying “oh they all get over it eventually”. She only went a few days a week so it wasn’t horrible. Then covid hit and since then she’s been home with her little sister and a nanny. But it’s funny cause they kept telling me she’d adapt… interesting to read that for your little one it hasn’t happened! So they were lying to me lol ;)

My kiddo never napped at the first daycare we sent him to (starting at 4 months). We’d be lucky if he got 2 20 minute catnaps. Just way too much baby FOMO and too much stimulation for him there. He’d zonk out on the drive home and then go to bed for the night at 6pm. It was brutal and I started to see some changes in his little baby personality so we switched him to a small in home daycare. It was magical, she had all the babies napping in a dark room at the same time. He was so much happier there (for several reasons but the sleep was so important!). Then at 18 months we switched back to another daycare, and despite all the changes (1 nap, cot, not particularly dark or quiet) he naps like a CHAMP there.

Going back to work after my second kid in 2 weeks. Feels so good to get back from being tied down with non mentally stimulating things but can’t stop worrying about doing two jobs - cooking, cleaning, meal planning, responding to 100 emails from my kids preschool , pickups/drop offs, etc . My husband is good but he can only do things when I tell him to - even for changing the light bulb. He says Will take care of my older kid during weekends for me to do all planning, cooking cleaning etc.

I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.

I know I may sound like a total entitled bitch but I get so irritated with my in laws. I love them dearly but they always say they want to “help” with the baby - but that means that they watch her for 30 minutes and then if she fusses or needs a diaper change they hand her back to us. I’m okay with this except that they ALWAYS say they want to help. And then when they come here on the weekends we are furiously cleaning and cooking because that’s the only time we have. I told my husband (cont.)

Why is maternity leave, policy and other women's issues not important as compared to Juneteenth, coed bathrooms, and all the other issues in the media today? Women are half the population and at an average of 2.1 kids per woman, these are major issues. Are we not vocal enough? Organized enough? Not a serious voting demographic? Too grateful things are better in this generation? What is it? Why does 50% of the population matter less compared to these smaller marginal groups?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and exhaustion is hitting me really hard, even worse than in my first tri. I'm sleeping 6-8 hours a night (I'm waking up without an alarm and unable to go back to sleep) but then need a 2 hour nap in the morning (?!?!) to get through the day. Even then, I'm still exhausted and having a hard time focusing when I wake up. Any tips? I've been using melatonin at night, which helps but isn't fixing the whole thing. Ideas appreciated!

Had a serious post partum emotions discussion with my husband yesterday and cried a ton, being honest with how I was feeling. Wasn't sure if being honest and vulnerable was going to make a big change, but this morning he was the sweetest and I'm so glad I did 😊 he changed the baby's diaper and was super positive and helpful with our 3 year old! Having coffee now and so grateful

My husband just called me slut today as I took a call (emergency work call) instead of helping to make my kid sleep. He does majority of childcare due to his schedule but shouting at me that I am a slut when I am trying to make a living hurts . He has his parents trust fund to go back to and we are already in counseling . I am terrified I would be living on the streets (what if there is a lay off) and divorced . Vent over . Thanks for reading .

My ex wife with whom I share custody of my 14 year old daughter has a live-in boyfriend who recently lost his mother and has developed a drinking problem. For the second week in a row I’ve had to pick up my daughter from their apartment because they were fighting and screaming at each other. Last time (1:30 AM Friday morning) he had physically assaulted my ex wife and then threatened to kill himself. I thought surely my ex wife would have kicked him out at least and better yet gotten a contd.
