I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

Anyone leave litigation for a different practice (or career)? I’m pigeon-holed in litigation (5 years), and hate it. But I’m having the hardest time getting out! I’ve gone for transactional roles, but my litigation background puts me at the bottom of the stack. I’ve been shooting for in-house for 1.5 years, but it seems most want 8+ years corporate and/or in-house experience. Willing to switch careers—something my legal background will bolster, but what? Feeling a bit lost here.
