Regional jets are notoriously finicky. I’ve seen them bringing checked in luggage onto the plane and stuff them on empty seats for weight balancing
99% of the time probably not. But do you want to be on the 1% that crashes because rules were not followed
I'm confused. Who weighs 70 lbs?
Doesn't matter how much the person weighs. The system has a standard weight calculation for a person regardless of how much each person actually weighs
Not criticizing, just curious
Would the 70lbs really matter, probably not. But then you’d be eating into the required safety margin and become a test pilot/passenger as there’s no standard whereby you stop. What about 80lbs? 100?

It can make a difference (shifting the CG of the plane forward or aft, which affects the ease with which the plane can maintain its desired pitch), and especially if the plane isn’t full of passengers, but the airlines don’t know your actual weights so they just apply an estimate (I believe it’s something around 200lb including carry-on luggage for males) based on assigned passenger seat, and of course they know how much checked baggage weighs (as well as its rough distribution).
