Is it just me but have political correctness, individualism and self esteem mongering gone too far? I can’t tell anything to my 22 year old daughter unless it’s sweet, light and approving at all times. Any instruction, input advice has to be provided in sweet tones or I am mean and vicious. I feel so fake about not being irritated, anxious or impatient around her, always this carefully cultivated calm model mother. It’s COVID times and we have had a death in the family, gods sake! Let me be me!
How did you meet your significant other/what are good places to meet people? Dating apps are brutal and a bar just isn’t the right place to meet someone. Please add suggestions lol
When did queer become ok to say & why? I played “Smear the Queer" as a kid/had no idea what it meant; now I find it as offensive as the N-word. Why “take back” a word instead of just not using it?
Moms I’m 34 weeks pregnant and have horrible heartburn and bloating/burping. Any ideas on what I can take that will actually be effective? I have 3 more weeks until maternity leave and a ton of work.
Moms, what are your base annual salaries, your child care arrangement and expenses, and number of children? I make 175k base, have 3 kids, pay about 40k plus taxes for nanny, 10k for preschool, and additional for backup care and summer camp for the oldest. Wondering what everyone else does, I always feel like I overspend on childcare.
Have an offer to move to a Fortune 500 company as a finance manager and an offer to move to a small PE owned company ($200m in revenue) as a business strategy manager. Same pay. Small company has me working with CFO/CEO/PE firm directly and large company has more benefits and defined career progression. Also the small company doesn’t have maternity leave and only has short term disability whereas the F500 has 1 month leave + disability. Which to take (kids in 2-3 years)? High impact or security?
People who are married and staying at their native places - Do you find it difficult at times to manage the family relations, parent's expectations especially from your working wife? I sometimes feel getting too much dragged in these things. Just looking for opinion of others and if anybody can give some suggestions on how to handle these.
Is it normal to have some anxiety about whether or not your baby will be healthy? I have no reason to think otherwise, but sometimes I have these thoughts. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this? It might just be because of everything going on in the world
Just moved to NYC and every apartment party that I’ve been to requires people to take off their shoes. It’s suppperrrr annoying bc like why am I wearing them in the first place and I also don’t want to be barefoot in someone else’s house!! Is this normal? Does anyone else feel this way?
I got married to a white American girl we have a kid now. My family is visiting from India and she is not ok with them staying for prolonged periods 3 weeks at a time in this case....contd
My mother keeps telling me the reason I haven’t had a boyfriend in years is because I have sex with them before a relationship. Do you think this is true? I didn’t want to believe it but it’s year 4 of singleness ☹️☹️
For the ladies in their 30s or older - how long did it take you to "get pregnant"? I know from anecdotal experiences it can be quite a range. Just curious (as a 35 woman) if I should get started sooner rather than later (instead of waiting for the perfect time).
Does anyone help their parents financially in regular amounts or in lump sum? I’d be curious to hear the context and how much you give.
Food for thaught - What is wrong in expecting dowry when girls expect a groom bundled with a hefty package and certainly ask for maintenance/ assets after divorce........ To all the girls thinking of putting or labelling this post as heinous , if equality is what you govern, why asking for a groom earning 3☆ your package ? If you dont expect / look for this , this post aint for you.....
For a 2.5 year old who isn’t potty trained yet, how do they change their diaper at daycare? I’ve been doing diaper changes (w pull-ups) standing up FOREVER because he will not lay down. Staff told me they have to hold him down on a changing table and he kicks and screams. Now I’m not sure who is doing it wrong. My kid will NOT lay down and I don’t think they should force it.
I’m trying to figure out if I should be angry., I was going through my husband’s stuff, trying to find an envelope, and I found some pictures of my husband with his ex girlfriend. He knows I hate her guts especially when she tried being friends with my husband before we were married. It took me a year but I shut that friendship down. Now we are married with a kid and I came address this. I did tear all pictures up and throw them away but do I need to confront or let this one go?
Husband and I are on the fence about having children. Anyone here also on the fence but go for it have a child and regret it? Or have a child and find great fulfillment?
Her boyfriend/business partner/part time parent to her 8 year old daughter (happy birthday!) gave his 2 weeks notice so the thing to do was to tell all of LinkedIn.
Need some advice here…I’m about 3 months in and a senior male associate told me to just google it when I asked him a question. I told him that hurt my feelings. After apologizing that he said that meanly but was just offering advice he has completely stopped responding to me. Was I oversensitive? Just not sure what’s going on here…
Post to test
Need advice on an engagement ring. I hear 3x your monthly salary. That's more than $15k. Is that reasonable for a upper middle class ring? And do Chinese girls want 24 ct rings? Aren't they too soft?
1 paycheck is spent on rent, the other is spent on loans. 2 years out of grad school, 3.5 years in consulting, make $75K/year. I have a savings ($5K) but I'm sick of this paycheck to paycheck life.
People who left EY. When giving the two weeks notice does the firm ask you to leave earlier?
As I prepared to file my notice, the partner of the firm called me and asked me to stay. They’re willing to promote me mid year in December and increase salary next year in August. The current offer I have gives 60% pay increase and Partner still can’t match that offer after promotion. Firm leadership says here I have potential to be a partner in 8 years and talk about all the leadership support I have rn which is fair. Is this one of their tactics to make me stay or should I just leave…
Booz Allen Hamilton fish, I left the firm in Feb 2021. Is there a number I can reach out to get my W2? I’ve relocated from DC to NYC since then and I don’t think they have an updated address for me.

How does Accenture determine if you're CDO or C&M if you're a referral? Made a few referrals and one is interviewing for CDO other two are going into C&M
How do you all avoid constantly checking the portfolios you actively manage for yourselves? I’m a long term investor on paper, but I check the returns intraday as much as I check on my fantasy football team, and it’s clearly irrelevant day to day as I’m not touching the $ soon anyway...essentially I’m addicted...
Having trouble coming up with new stories for interviews. Already used 3 but I have a final round coming up and this firm does a deep dive into the stories. Any suggestions?
Has the virus deterred you from going out (eating at restaurants, bars, hangout spots with friends, etc)?
2017 A4. Certified or brand new? Looking at a certified one but priced similarly to new one with 6k miles.
Starting to panic. I’ve been pushing so hard to get to SM and am up for promo for EOY cycle (in committee review now) but suddenly feeling not ready... buyers remorse? Help! Can I do this? Tips?

Anyone know if amazon culture is as awful as it's rumored to be? Seems like an interesting time to work there, and how much more intense could the culture be than consulting?
How do you tell the Uber driver to stop talking and focus on driving so we won’t be the slowest car on the road politely?
