Am about to file perm and am ROW (Canadian). I know the GC is valuable because it provides optionality (entrepreneurship, job opportunities, etc). But I’ve been pretty miserable in current role. I think it’s ~1.5 yrs from now to GC in hand. H1B just kicked in so have time… but please remind it’s worth it to hang in there…

Been there. Done that. It was 4 years 4 months for me since I started working at the firm which sponsored me. Waited until I got GC on hand and left for a better opportunity.

I got several RFE and felt lucky that I didn’t change my job so I didn’t need lots of paperwork to prepare. It’s worth it. So hanging in there buddy!

Hi guys, so a friend of mine has been head hunted for a job as a designer position for a interior design company. His current job is a good position which puts him on track to be creative director in 2 years. His current job is a great role, loves what he does but he’s not being paid as much as he should and he’s pretty curious about this other job offer. He’s thinking of going for a meeting with the other company. What kind of questions do you think should be asked in the meeting?

Hello fellow designers!

I was laid off back in August and I have been trying to get a product/UX/UI job ever since then. With the recession and all of the crazy things that are happening right now it has been even harder.

Is anyone hiring a mid-level Product/UX/UI designer?
I have 3 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer and I am available to start working immediately! (Remote work is preferred since I live in Phoenix, AZ and there are not a lot of tech jobs here)

I've completed the final rounds for 2 companies: AWS as an L7 Principal PMT and another that's a Series-A funded startup in the HCM space. I expect offers from both: AWS around $400k TC ($250k base + $150k stock) and the startup should be around $300k TC ($250k base + 20% bonus). If comp wasn't the ONLY consideration, what would you do? The AWS role will be an IC role and more hands-on/technical. The startup will be a CPO role reporting to the CEO with a team of about 50 devs+PMs.

Hello Fishes,

I have got my L2 Dependent Visa stamped for the US through the Wife's organization and she has booked the tickets for the both of us in the next weekend. I am currently unallocated in TCS and seeking projects in the same US location as my Wife. Can I travel to the US just like that and then continue my search within TCS from there or do I need any approvals to even fly in the first place?

I am worried because of the time crunch and will be glad to hear some points on this.

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?
