How do industry strat cases compare to consulting cases?

like

Cases yes

I think the harder part is getting noticed. Cases are easy if you have done high rigor strategy work.

Much easier based on my experience. I interviewed at 2 different places, wanted to feel the waters. Got one offer but did not end up taking it. The key difference I noticed was that cases can be take home with 48-72 hours turnaround. With stratagy consulting level slide building, analysis, and story telling the case feels easier (compared to ones you do coming out to b-school) However, the hard part is the behavioral aspect. I was rejected once for coming across as aggressive for the company culture. They know consultants can be demanding and agressive (and cocky) so they spend time to ask you all sorts of situational questions to gauge your personality.

This sounds exactly like my experience interviewing at a Faang corp strategy role. There’s a take home and some in person “cases”. If you’re used to the mba cases, the in person cases on these feel unnatural because I think they expect you to be much more casual. I also hate take home cases.

Background:Asia, expecting to promote to M this cycle. Looking for some advice on being headhunted/jumping ship. I’m speaking to HR from another big 4 + a recruiter for another firm for an M role, and it looks like the $ and potentially benefits will be bigger, but I’m not that keen on moving unless the $ is a huge jump. Any advice on how I might navigate this? Have interviews next week for the other roles.

Good books for engineering management interviews? Hi - i am an EM and I keep bombing the EM interviews. Typically don’t get any feedback. My resume is ok because I do get plenty of calls, but clearly i am doing something wrong somewhere. Anyone recommend any engineering management or just management interview book? I read quite a few Leadership books but honestly it seems just common sense stuff. Doesn’t help me identify whats wrong.
