Hello all. Coming to this group with a transparent question. I’m in the market for a new car, coming from a Hyundai sante fe.
I’m 25, and I want to drive something sporty, under 43k, and reliable, 4 doors. I’m all over the place and having a hard time narrowing down. Curious if anybody has suggestions.
For context, I live in Atlanta, 25, works for Google making around 120k annually.
Thank you all so much in advance!
Do it. YOLO. Spent $65k on a Defender last year. Once the money is gone, it’s gone. As long as you enjoy it every time you drive it you won’t think of it.
Do it, Mini has a pretty solid following. Worst case you sell it for what you bought it for in 6 months if for whatever reason you hate it

I guess for context I make $150k and already have a working car that’s fully paid off (R56 Mini lol). But I’ve always wanted a classic esp in rally spec.
This looks awesome
Do ittttt
Haha for me yes, but for you it might be worth it, seems like you like minis
Don’t do it, I use to want to buy stuff like this - think of it this way, if someone else magically slid in and bought it before you decided, you’d probably be annoyed and have some regrets for a short period of time, then you’d forget (while still having the 60k in your pocket which can be used for something better); conquer your hidden emotional urges!
Unless the economic and intrinsic value of this car far exceeds 60k, that’s a decision node in itself lol
Yes
Personal and perhaps unpopular opinion: old minis are shit in every measurable way except the look.
If you want a rally classic that is actually still fun to drive and with semi-relevant performance, I’d look for a Lancia Delta Integrale.
Honestly, if u can afford it why not. That's what we work for

This is a 2 part question for me. 1) do I want to spend $60k and 2) if I’m gonna spend $60k why spend it on this instead of something like a nice truck (I’ve been thinking about trucks, all their cargo space and off road capabilities for like the last year or two) which seems like a “more useful” 2nd car.
But I will say this Mini is built by a company that makes 500whp Mini Cooper builds, they are legit af. Between that and the Miniac community, I think I could buy this and not loose any money aside from the maintenance costs. Which idk if I could say the same about a truck, especially in 3-5 years if the car market goes back to sanity.
The thing is I don’t really need a car at all, so when I’m looking for a second car it’s just literally what would be the most fun. A classic mini? A truck? A Miata? Do I wanna f*ck around and find out? I also have a motorcycle to get my thrills and sheesh do you know how much motorcycle you can buy for $20k?
I mean I think I already know I should invest my money but god sometimes you just YOLO a purchase (like I did with my motorcycle lol) and it feels so good and naughty. And this $60k classic rally Mini is very naughty
Not a Mini expert here, but I do own and pay attention to classic cars. Here are my opinions on your first 2 ?s:
1 - Absofreakingloutely
2 - Chances are a truck will just depreciate in value on you. Many classics these days are either retaining, or more likely, increasing in value. Not only is this something that would clearly add pleasure to your life, but I would think you could count it as an investment. I caveat this with the fact that I know very little about Minis…
I’ve purchased a couple cars in the past few years purely because they spark joy for me and not for a single second have I regretted them! Life’s too short, my dude.
