Can we show unequal rent split up between husband & wife for HRA?
Let's say we pay 20k in rent. I want to show that I pay 15k and wife can show 5k. Is this sort of break up possible without explicitly mentioning it in the rent agreement?

Looking for a friendly discussion here... don’t know if there is a straight forward answer, but why are we allowed to put more in a 401k vs an IRA? They are essentially the same thing (correct me if I’m oversimplifying) with the main difference being 401ks are provided by employers. Do you feel like this could be a contributor to the wealth gap? 401ks are more of the norm at white collar jobs and a lot of companies don’t offer one. Is it fair? Talk to me.

I’m moving to a state that has high taxes and a state capital gains tax (New York). My new job also gives RSUs. 

Does anyone have tax strategies (outside of traditional things like 401(k) and maximizing deductions) for reducing my taxable incomeFor instance, if I don’t think I’ll stay in New York for a long time (4 years max), does it make sense to not sell my RSUs until I move to a state that has lower taxes/doesn’t tax capital gains?
