Am I an asshole for getting annoyed when a 5-9 yr old kid throws a (loud) temper tantrum in public and the parent allows it?

Take said child to the bathroom and beat him/her. These new generation children have it so easy

My parents took me to our car, outside, bathroom, etc. They didn't spank me (tho... they would). They let me misbehave until I realised being in the restaurant with family and friends was more fun than being in a parking lot and I would ask to go back inside. My parent would ask me: "are you calm now?" And I'd either answer yes, or still have a bit of a tantrum in me and we'd keep waiting. Then when I finally calmed down, we'd go back inside. Nobody's night is ruined, and I learned I don't always get my way. - this is an account from my mother, whom I asked when I was confronted with this thought.

I mean, it is definitely annoying, but i feel like kids are hard to control. i'd like to think my future children will be well-behaved, but we'll see what happens when they crush my soul

Some of my peers throw tantrums like that still.

What do you do as a parent? Give the kid what he wants so he stops making a scene? That doesn't seem like the right thing to do either. Kids whine, and as a parent you often just ignore it.

My parents would take me away from the setting and give me a smack. Maybe not the best method, but most effective

We need a lot of help with babies and kids, especially when both parents are working. I know this because i have a 4 year old. But i am still healing from the struggles of trying my best to raise the kid and keeping everything afloat.

While we are planning second, i don't want to be struggling for air like the first time. And i know its going to be even crazier with two kids. I am anxious

So, where and how do you find help? Did you do it on your own, if yes, how on earth without going mad?

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

My husband and I got married young 23/21. We've been married for 13 years now and happy. My husband occasionally mentioned he eventually wanted to have a kid or two. We were young and dumb so didn't have adult discussions before we got married. At the moment I don't want to have any children. I love focusing on my career and the freedom I have traveling and doing stuff for myself. Is it the time to have the talk? How should I bring it up?

Sometimes I attend city meetings for new housing proposals, bike lanes, bus lanes, outdoor dining, etc. Quite literally 100% of the people speaking in opposition to these projects are Baby Boomers, who typically complain that they are going to lose their free parking spaces. Is there some particular reason this generation seems to be opposed to almost everything, and obsessed with parking?

I have a manager that does not seem to understand mental illnesses, disorders, etc. He thinks I am making excuses rather than trying to explain things (I have diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and I’m trying to take ownership for issues but also help him understand what I am describing better as well. We are sitting down for a conversation later this week. Any advice on how to gently educate or help with his understanding of neurodivergence and other mental health considerations?

At this point, they’re over budget and behind schedule on everything compared to the other staff who has a year less of exp and has been getting through his work with less coaching.

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?
