Yes, that’s unreasonable.
Tell me you're Gen Z without saying you're Gen Z......
I doubt there are any gen z senior associate. Even k-JD millennials on the youngest end of the millennial spectrum are mid levels right now. Lol
Why not pay for it yourself if it’s that important to you? My firm also didn’t pay for first or business class for a trial on the other side of the country, so I don’t think what you’re asking for is out of step with typical practice.

Personally, I find it completely ridiculous to have lawyers on business trips in economy. My firm has an unofficial rule about this and I just pay the difference myself. In short: I do not agree with the policy but I am not annoyed.
FWIW I know for a fact even rainmakers and dept heads at at least one v50 firm have to pay the difference for 1st class on any and all business trips. Firm policy.

I agree they're being cheap a-holes but just pay for it yourself.

I do not think it’s at all typical for firms to pay for business class. But they do pay us enough that you can upgrade if you want.

If you are making $300k or more a year and first class is important to you, then you can damn well afford it.
