I am actually pretty passionate about what I do. I do work in the human capital space and I love thinking about the work, learning new emerging trends, solving problems, data analysis, coaching people, facilitating offsites or training. There are aspects of the job I can do without but I don’t know what in life there are aspects I could do without. If I hit the lottery tomorrow —- I would probably do this at least part time or probably for free for people and businesses that need the support. I also love fashion/personal style and interior decorating so I think I would also try to do stuff in that space as well.

I really enjoy my work, but I don’t like the fact that I’m at someone else’s beck & call. If I could afford to do my job as a volunteer, on my own schedule and only working with people *I* choose to work with, I’d do it in a heartbeat. In the meantime, I’ll keep doing what I do and enjoying the perks, decent pay, and knowing that what I’m doing is going to have a real impact on a lot of people. Is that “passion?” Probably not. But I also think that “passion” is overrated sometimes.

I know a grand total of 0 people who work in business who are truly passionate about their job. It’s a check. Passion is something HBR probably came up with as a way to “motivate the workers.” You aren’t crazy, make your money and put it to work so you can one day just chill out

FWIW I do love making enough to live a very comfortable life as a young person. I think we all tend to take for granted that we can afford yelp 3 dollar sign restaurants and nice houses/apartments. I do also find solving problems and competition quite fun. But yes I’d rather be a stand up comedian because thats like way more fun than having 6 meetings per day

I think living off of investments is probably the best survival mechanism humanity has come up with. You do nothing and get something. Not possible in any other economic system unless you’re royalty

A holiday feels like a holiday because it’s a contrast vs. the usual. You being on holidays all year round won’t make you necessarily happy. Find things you’re convinced are the right thing to do. For me it’s the impact of my job and the projects with the wife. It can be a hobby, a competition,...

I work in the Diversity and Inclusion space. It’s not easy work especially since a lot of people do not want to face the facts that we all have biases, but in the workplace this translates to pay inequity, a lack accountability, and work environment that isn’t inclusive. It’s not for the faint of heart but I love what I do and am always learning about myself, others and corporate America. My work has a purpose which keeps me going

I'm not passionate about my company or anything like that, but I do really enjoy data science

I definitely work to get paid. I work in healthcare (configurations). I am not passionate about it.

I really like about 25-50% of my job. Might even say love. I get to work with technologies I'd never have access to on my own. This keeps me going. The other 50% is boring client work for billability. I'd drop that in a second if I could.

In this new year, I would like to get better at investing. I am embarrassed to say that all I have done is max out my 401K every year. I am having the hardest time in my life. Depression and anxiety have become unmanageable from the pressure to bill with only a ten vacation day policy. I don’t sleep anymore. I cry every single day. I have pushed through so much mentally to keep going, To keep logging in and billing but after two years the burnout is real. I have no more will do anything. I’m mentally burnt. My body physically aches from the lack of sleep and pure state of stress I’m constantly in. Any encouragement? Something?
