Do you have friends or family? What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Do you like to travel? There’s so much out there to explore and enjoy yourself. Honestly once you start enjoying life in your singleness it’s so contagious it starts attracting the right people. You don’t have to be alone if you don’t want to be. So many other singles are setting up events to network, do life together and help fill in the gaps until you meet someone

How’s your local friend group/chosen family? Are there activities or groups you’re interested in locally? (I am very bored of the advice to Just Love Yourself And Everything Will Happen Magically, and I say this as someone cheerfully married for 6+ years. Dude, a lot of things are way easier with someone else to share the load!! The pandemic has really highlighted this.)

I will also say that someone once told me that sometimes you gotta kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, but that doesn’t mean kissing frogs isn’t fun, and boy howdy yes

Meetup is a good site for meeting people who have similar interests. There are also active single groups. Biggest thing- got to get out and have fun however you do it. Local watering hole, board game place, theater, etc. Just trust your gut. Make sure you watch your drink. And have fun!

I haven't tried Meetup, thank you C1. Trying to get more even though going out alone is a little daunting!

There’s so much more to life than just being with someone else. Focus on what you enjoy to do, build a strong network of friends to enjoy those things with, and just enjoy life! If a partner comes along, great - if not, no worries. Don’t wait with living life until you find a partner - that’s a waste of precious time. You can be perfectly happy and fulfilled being single 😘

I think part of the problem is most of closest girlfriends don't live close to me. Definitely time to get out there and try and make some new friends. Thank you N1!

I'm not going to lie to you....I feel the same way. Dating in 2022 is a dumpster fire and I really feel like i like being alone better than dealing with it all.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed in my new role. Came from an old school way of EA supporting where technology tools where sparse and the environment was more paper driven and face to face contact. I have moved to a new EA role with less personal contact and highly digital. Most of the software used I am not familiar with completely foreign to me. What do I do? Do I sit it out and push myself or do I start looking for something else that is more of a fit?

I am starting a new job that will require a lot of travel. I currently have the chase freedom flex (downgraded from preferred 2.5 years ago) and Amex blue cash, never use the Amex. I am in between CSR or Amex Platinum, leaning towards CSR but I won’t be eligible for the 60k bonus points since I earned them when I had the preferred. Would CSR still be worth it, assuming my biggest spend is on food/groceries and I love to travel internationally (1-3 trips a year) or should I go for the Amex? TIA.

Looking for a remote/hybrid/onsite (Calgary,Alberta) job for my boyfriend who got almost 5 years of experience in proposal writing, RFP, RFI and bid management for a civil engineering firm. He also got an MBA, non drinker, non smoker, clean driving abstract and very polite. He gave out tons of cv in indeed job posters for the past 5 months, ends up becoming the filler candidate, took a huge toll in his mental health and we are going through some very rough patches. Can anyone please kindly help?

Hi everyone! I'm in need of some advice.. I have a panel interview in a few days & I'm not sure what to do at this stage of the interview process. Up until now, I've only had initial interviews with recruiters or a 2nd round 1:1 with hiring managers & now I don't know what to expect. I've been told that they use the STAR method for answers & I'm researching that now, but a) what should I expect during this time & b) what are some questions typically asked at this stage? Thanks in advance!

We had an important project stakeholders meeting for which I prepared a presentation, delivered the presentation and answered some difficult questions in the Q&A. I ensured a few of the stakeholders that I'd follow up with some interesting links.
I prepared an email to follow up which was a collation of links, white papers in attachment etc which took the morning to put together. My colleague, who is a male who had initially set up the meeting and chaired it was to send the minutes after. (1)

Single women in STEM, do you have to field questions about being single during the holidays like I do? I'm 27, and every single Christmas my mother or grandmother ask me if I've "met any nice boys" and "when I'm planning to make time for a family." I get that they're coming from a good place, but I'd love for them to ask me about my work and how fulfilling that is instead. Tips for (kindly) getting family off your back?

Can anyone help me?
I’m 25 and have an array of experience within environmental science. I mostly enjoy being a field employee but recognize the pay is not always great. My current position is bureaucratic and technically oriented which is great for skills but not for growth. I know I have more to offer and want to expand into different areas of STEM. Any suggestions or recommendations would help, I’m open to anything!

What, if anything, can be done to increase and encourage female representation in hired STEM positions? For example, should female and other minority employees have input on your companies yearly class of interns or new hires? Do you think women are underrepresented in STEM because of societal standards or because we have to fight harder to get hired? Having a bit of a debate with a coworker over solutions.

SO beyond frustrated with my work environment I think it may be time to leave for good. I returned from maternity leave after 4 years of working at my very old-school, boys club, nepotism-friendly company. The number of remarks I got on my appearance, my pregnancy and etc was a little annoying before I left, but since I've come back it's been nothing but comments on how they can't believe I'm leaving my husband home with the baby etc. Sorry for the long post just needed to vent!!

As proud as my family is of my career and accomplishments, I think my mother would honestly be happier or just as happy if I had no degree, a husband, and several children (I'm 29). She doesn't expressly say it but the "don't you get lonely?" comments speak for themselves.
