What do you mean? I thought you said you wouldn’t have any service in your remote honeymoon location, so you couldn’t even if you wanted to.

Thank me later

Who cares what the expectation is, honestly. Fuck em! I won’t.

likeuplifting

Tbh I hate that you even have to ask us this, smh

like

Ummmm noooo

like

No, and tell them you’re not going to be able to use your phone/email.

like

Also, I was always told that honeymoon and the gap between jobs when you lateral are the only two real vacations you get as an attorney.

like

Nah. Nope. No.

like

Stop.

like

Absolutely not. And the expectation to be responsive while on any vacation is toxic, especially if you’re not the most senior lawyer on the matter

like

No, but you should set up an automatic out of office response so folks who email you are reminded that you are away. If you have direct contact with clients, this email should also direct them to contact your assistant or a colleague in case of an emergency.

Don’t and let them figure out what to do. Anyone who demands work done during someone’s honeymoon can go find themselves a new team in this labor market

Right now I´m based in Spain but I will move to NY upon thesis defense (will hold all the necessary papers to work in the in the US). I work on a small 4 person remote team- 2 peers and our manager. My 2 peers were recently hired and started in February this year. I actually trained them since I have held that position (Manager). I have been at the company for 6 years and moved to a Sr. IC role. My skip-level was previously my direct manager. My manager told us about a plan to meet up in person this summer for team building. It slipped in a meeting today that everyone but me is included in going. More in comments.

Been living with boyfriend for last 7 or so months. Going really well I thought.

Snooped his IG chat (bad I know) and saw him chatting other dudes and planning a meet-up this weekend (I’m going to be away to see some family). Provocative stuff. Kinda freaking out.

Happy Monday!

Hello,

I am a 3rd year insurance defense attorney with product and premise liability experience. Due to long-COVID, I am likely to lose my job.

The plan is to find a government position that would involve more substantive litigation and trial work, then leverage that into the private sector a few years down the line.

Any advice would be appreciated regarding networking, where to start, etc. Thank you.

Any HR professionals here? I need to know:Just started a new role and I was in a virtual meeting for new hires discussing benefit questions with our HR reps. Someone asked a question regarding enrollment and the HR rep asked them for their name and pretty much shared that individual’s selections for the next year while we were all on the call. Isn’t that information confidential or at the very least, personal?

I’ve been applying to companies for PM Roles. Literally 3-4 companies contacted now asking for assignments (metrics or product sense) to be submitted in 1-2 days, as first/second round. I’m stuck in the thought of finishing all of it, amidst my busy day job 😑. Why are companies doing this? Aren’t interviews simple and time effective?

Anyone have tips for asking for more than you think you're worth? Because of the employment market there's a job which is about a 20K jump for me but it's been open for a year so I'm pretty sure I can get something additional out of them. Would it be appropriate to ask for 10K above the jump? Or should I just count my blessings and leverage my ability to underprice other applicants

Fellow millennial lawyers: tell me, in general terms, 1 or 2 clients you acquired and how you acquired them. I feel like the suggested strategies for developing business are always the same: network, build your brand (hate this phrase), market yourself on LinkedIn, etc. Does any of this work? Seems to me to that most business development comes from long-standing contacts (e.g. your childhood best friend is now CEO and needs legal services), so I’m curious how other attorneys developed business.

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".
