Hi All,
I have 7 years of experience in total in SAP Integration technology and I have been offered C2 manager position with Capgemini with a package of 30.5 LPA.
Is it good to join? Can I still contribute technically at C2 role? Or would it be pure managerial role? Also please let me know how much variable pay would be paid at this role? I have around 2.8L variable per year as a part of the package.
Any pointers will be highly appreciated Capgemini

Nope. Lots of people start at your age. Nobody talks about or knows or cares about people’s ages…

Good luck!

Honestly wouldn’t do it if I were you.
The first few years are rough, incredibly long hours trying to get up to speed on consulting, which is so much different than other jobs.
I’m 35 now and truly can’t imagine doing the hours I did when I started 6 years ago. I legitimately am too old for that and don’t have that kind of energy anymore.
Agreed. The hours really can be brutal - I think in your twenties by virtue of having less responsibilities / different priorities, it’s much easier to pull long hours.
Socially - my honest opinion is that there really aren’t that many people in their 30s starting at your level. But I think as long as you put in the effort to get to know people, people will generally be receptive and reciprocate.

Why not apply for a manager role? Is this because there is a specific opening?
All the partners I spoke to told me coming in as an EM would set me up for failure versus doing 1 year as a C and getting promoted next year would give me a year of ramp up
I started with someone who worked on the client side (was actually a close client for my team) for 10ish years and wanted a reset (he’s late 30s). He came over at the same level as I did (MBA+ 2 yoe). He loves it. It’s a mid-level position and so we have associates under us, but not at the leadership level. So it is definitely a thing people do. All hours at all positions are brutal
