Depends on the agency size and structure but generally: 1. Account Coordinator / Assistant AE 2. Account Manager (not always a step) 3. Account Executive 4. Senior AE / Account Manager (have seen AM be different levels in diff places) 5. Account Supervisor 6. Sr. Account Supervisor / Jr. Account Director (kind of a bs title) 7. Account Director 8. Group Account Director 9. SVP, Group Account Director From there, depends on career trajectory but likely on to Managing Director. I also ignored addendums like VP that generally start around Account Director.

I think I was trying to point out the farcical nature of it all.

I get that this is likely a joke, but what even are half the titles. In my experience (from large shops under the major holding companies) most reputable places are following: Account Assistant OR Acct Coordinator Acct Executive Acct Supervisor OR Acct Manager Acct Director Group Acct Director Managing Director A “Sr” or “VP” addition is usually a bump or negotiated title that really means very little in the general structure, the position is essentially the same (though not always)

I e never worked with an Account Manager. Not sure I understand the difference between that and an Account Supervisor. Actually, I assume managers are above supervisors.

When I was a “Brand Manager” it was the equivalent of an Account Supervisor.

Then MP MD CEO

This post makes me glad our agency got rid of titles and bloated hierarchy

Missing Group Account Manager and Group Account Director above the Senior rank

..you’re kidding about “Group Account Manager”, right?

Also thinking about having another kid soonish.

One of the partners at the firm asked me if I can move my marriage (already planned and shared dates 3months back) to next year as there is lot of work to be done for the client. I am always grateful, as for everything I have learnt in consulting is at this company. But asking me to reconsider one of the most important events in my personal life against a project. Is that right? How do you care for your work and employer anymore after this?

Partners (at Deloitte at least), are you all trained to refer to everyone as “good people” when speaking to them? I find it a bit disingenuous when Partners who I just met tell me I’m “good people”, “do great work”. I just scheduled a first networking call with you, or got pulled in to your project 2 seconds ago. I know you barely know me 😆

Partners: we've noticed how hard you've worked on this project where we completely abandoned you, did not supply you with adequate resources to complete your task, and rebuffed every attempt you made to ask for assistance. So we just wanted to take this moment to tell you that hopefully this has been a learning opportunity and you'll know better than to let us do that in the future.

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
