Am I putting my manager on blast when the teams I work with ask the status of a project and I tell them it is waiting on the manager review? It is true and it has become a sticking point at this several times throughout the process.

I’ll review it when I have time. Maybe in October 🤣

No - you are not putting them on blast it that is an accurate account of the engagement. Been there myself so many times, it’s just important that you not let attitude or feeling work it’s way into your response.

No. As a manager if something is in my court I’m never going to be upset if that is known. That said, delivery is everything. Don’t get angry at your manager, they likely have other deliverables of higher importance due and you may not have visibility to. Keep following up, but try not to get frustrated.

Omg this happened to me and I had to throw the manager under the bus and he was pissed but I didn’t care. I had the deliverable ready for review 3 weeks ago and pinged and emailed him at least 5x in the first 2 weeks and the partner asked about and I had to lie that I still had it and I told the manager to review but he didn’t. The same thing happened for a 3rd week when the partner asked and this time I said it was in manager review and partner was pissed. I did my job and this manager wanted to get mad at me but we had a 1on1 meeting and he saw he was at fault after all the emails I had been sending as a reminder. It is what it is. Don’t be the fall guy when no one will take the fall for you!

like

You should have said it was in manager review when the partner asked the first time. I did this good deed early in my career once - you’ll be surprised. The manager will then turn around and say “you take awhile” in your snapshot in order to defend themselves from the partner when getting their snapshot / performance review. You just backed their story by doing that if they went that way with things.

Internal or external?

I switched from audit to consulting, and I thought I’d enjoy my job since I’m no longer ticking the box.. doing something that’s more challenging (what people said lol) .. helping the client etc etc but honestly the job seems pretty much the same. I still work on meaningless BS stuff. Is it because I’m not in ‘real’ (strategy) consulting? I do process improvement / CFO advisory. Or are all corporate jobs pretty much the same other than the pay / wlb (which is def. better)

Got asked today best way to gather our own (agency's) 1st party data. My first thought is develop our own pixel to capture user data (ip, email, device ID) and store that in a database, then use it later for targeting through a LiveRamp or similar. No idea if this is right or there's a better way or where I'd start my research. Anyone want to point me in some sort of direction?

I have a job, and I’m grateful that I do! But it makes me extremely unhappy. I’m talked down to constantly, our client treats us like we’re dumb and they have no trust for the creative team, and I’m constantly anxious. How do I find a new gig during these (forgive me for saying this) unprecedented times? Or what do I do/say if I want to switch accounts within my agency? I need some advice from other women who’ve been through this and succeeded at finding something that makes them happier.

How can you tactfully push a client lead to encourage change from a direct report of theirs? I have a great relationship with the lead and the report, but the report is dragging on business processes

A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?
