Nope, you're not alone. It's more work to prepare for a sub and then catch up on the work when you get backthan it's worth to have the day off
Way more work and aggravation to be away than being in the classroom. And the students lose the consistency too. Kind of sad to think of it like this, but for my own mental health it is better NOT to take a day off.
Don’t feel bad but as you know, nobody will pick up the sub job for our classes. Take that day, that room you use for a class was there before you and will be when you go. Your health is a one time thing.
You are not alone in this at all.
Nope!
Are you kidding? I'm afraid to take a sick day, let alone a mental health day. When I was out with pneumonia once and could barely walk to the bathroom, I was called at home and told I had to write a student's IEP.
That day??? Geesh
Nope
You are not alone. I see this at my schools. It’s an impossible spot 😞♥️
My son was required to stay home one day last week due to a diagnosis of mycoplasma but he really felt fine. I told my wife I would gladly stay home with him because I really needed a break. But then again, as a sped teacher, I didn’t have to worry about a sub. The kids just didn’t get services that day.
Not alone at all. Any time any single staff member is out at my program the focus of our day switches from actually educating to just surviving without injuries or meltdowns. It's a hot mess.
