Not having an advantage anymore doesn’t make something a disadvantage
As a minority, I totally see bar being lowered for minority and I hate it, because everyone can tell and gives us a bad name…

There’s a really fascinating thing that happens where we interpret the presence of POC/women as being equal or more than the presence of white men when it is actually significantly less.
Let’s look at the data shall we?
In 2021 there were 6 black CEOs. 20 were Latine. 40 were Asian. Out of 693 sitting CEOs 66 are not white. Women only make up 6.9%.
In the boardroom, 21% are POC and 30% are women.
Your assertion that companies are pushing women and POC is false. And there are numerous studies that show on average women and POC are overqualified compared to their white, male counterparts of the same level.
Consider, perhaps, a different reality where maybe you just aren’t as good as you think you are.

Agree, and it’s not just this bowl.
It feels like every post is filled with reasons to be salty or condescending, view everything as a micro aggression, or project whatever insecurities or unhappiness is going in someone’s personal life.
Every week I’m reminded why I take weeks (and sometimes months) long breaks from opening this app.

I’m a CIS white male who didn’t come from money and I’ve definitely had advantages compared to other groups of people. Money always helps, but a lack thereof does not make you hugely disadvantaged
Love this.
Here we go....

Maybe you just don’t have what it takes?
We can play this game if you’re interested. You said you’re not white, which implies you’re a person of color. By your interpretation, that should already give you an advantage as you’re a non-white male and part of an underrepresented class.

Pwc2, noted and agreed. Thank you for sharing. My firm has represented cases that mirror your experience.

Maybe why you won’t get selected for those leadership positions is you don’t understand the power of diversity…or qualifications.

Your privilege is showing OP
I know I've got privilege, totally aware of that, but I think people just paint it as if you are a heterosexual cisgender male you can't complain or see things in a different way.
I don’t know why everyone else is hounding on you. Thanks for sharing your feelings, inclusion means everyone. I would rather have these questions pop up in these forums rather have OP bottle it up and resent minority groups for neglecting what he is feeling.
If we apply that logic we can extend it to anything. I think some offense is needed to progress and evolve. If we always stay with what we're comfortable then it'll be impossible to improve.

This is the best time in the history of America to be a minority and it’s not even close
Yes
Lmao
I remember a straight white male senior manager complaining to me, a queer woman, about how the reason he wasn't getting promoted was because people were prejudiced against straight white males these days.
Meanwhile from SM up, there was one white female partner, one man of colour AP, and straight white men the rest of the way through.
Anyways, you might want to examine your assumption that people with marginalized identities - but not anyone else - are getting pushed into leadership positions without being qualified
Sorry peeps if he is Asian he has a point sadly…
He is based in a Latin American, which is why I’m even more confused why he feels he is not getting equal opportunities in his country.
Op, if you are Asian read this.
