I don't think I have ever felt so stupid before. My firm recently hired someone who was barred in 2021. I was barred 2019. I took it as I was senior to him and tried to mentor him. Well the joke is on me. Because he worked for the govt for some years before becoming an attorney, they made him a SENIOR associate. He has 0 prior attorney experience. Yet he's a senior. 6th year Plaintiffs’ med-mal/PI associate here, talked to a recruiter who thinks I’d be a good candidate for an opening at a defense-side firm that’s looking for an associate. The salary range was double what I’m making! Are there any pitfalls of going from plaintiff to defense I should be mindful of?

The main partner I work for is constantly trying to set “legal traps” to see if I fall into them. For example, he ask me a specific legal question (to which he already knows the answer) to see if I am able to deliver. I’m so nervous now (this has been going on for over a year) that I often end up falling into his trap by doing (stupid) mistakes. What do you advise me to do? My self confidence is slowly getting destroyed. This does not happen with other partners.
