Am I the only person excited to go back to the office? I know everyone on here is anti-office but I’m actually looking forward to seeing everyone in person.

No. But just stay on the side for advocating for flexibility. Lol.

like

Agreed. My firm has always been flexible so I guess it never affected me. Many people WFH 2-3 days a week well before Covid.

like

Especially as a COVID lateral, 100%. Pretty excited for the new normal to be 2/3 days in, the rest home. Many friends of mine who love WFH work in way different industries (marketing, advertising, start ups) and aren’t slaves to their computer as many hours of the day as we are - it gets mega depressing IMO.

I wouldn’t mind it if I worked for a nicer partner

Personally I enjoy the separation between the workplace and my home.

like

I really miss being in the office. The lack of separation between work & home is hard. Plus, with the hours we work, I can now go days without stepping outside. It’s very weird. That said, I moved from a tiny downtown apartment to the suburbs during covid (needed the extra space) and I’m actively dreading commuting. I used to walk to work...now I’m looking at a 30-60 min drive each way. For that reason, I’ll be staying remote as long as I can.

Starting in September, my firm will be doing a hybrid with 3 in and 2 at home and I’m now very excited knowing I don’t have to do it everyday haha I like my coworkers and my office but I love the flexibility and productivity I have working from home.

I’m back in person, and I love it. I really enjoy my coworkers and having them around to bounce ideas off of us very helpful.

I’ve been going to the office a few times a week this month. I needed the change of pace for mental health/work-life balance reasons and thought I missed it… but I’m already sick of it. I knew I lost time because of needing to look professional, commuting, planning for/buying meals, getting interrupted by colleagues, etc. I just didn’t realize how much time I was losing. Like 2-3 hours of my day, poof, gone.

But hey, it made me appreciate WFH a lot more.

I’m a labor lawyer with a national practice. I spend 100 nights a year in hotel rooms. So, I’m excited to go back to “home base” on the 5-10 days a month i’m in town.

Hello, I’m currently trying to break into consulting. Would anyone be willing to talk about their experience of getting into consulting? I already graduated with a masters degree so I don’t think I can do those internships but don’t really have professional experience to apply for experienced roles. Even if it’s just 15-20 minutes of your time I would really appreciate it!

Hello everyone,

Thursday I had received email from JP Morgan HR regarding my availability for the interview. I had responded back to the mail stating I am available for interview on Monday from 10 am till end of the week any time. After that I haven't heard back from the HR on further process. I am worried as they might not interview me. Need thoughts of group people for the scenario.

Anyone else just having a rough day? I got bad medical news about a family member over the weekend and my mind has just been so preoccupied. I’m stuck on a case that I absolutely hate in a different practice group than my own, made a couple mistakes today, and feel things starting to snowball a bit.

Quick question for u guys. Email campaign test. How big is ur test and control group typically?

What’s the minimal volume u guys use for each group of the test?

I'm someone who has jumped firms a lot and am currently being pushed out of my current firm. I don't want to jump again, but I also don't want to lose this job with nothing lined up. Has anyone been in this situation? Were you let go without a job? How did you recover?

Our entire class in our group (six people) (mid sized regional firm? were laid off for “performance reasons.” They specifically encouraged us to pretend otherwise and carryon (for our career reputation) but we’re all friends so we figured it out pretty fast. Shitty process.

What time do you start working during the week? I get to the office between 9-10am, but I struggle to get started on actual work for a while. I usually scroll through social media apps until I realize it’s almost 11 or later. Any tips on getting started on actual work in the morning?

Context: Managing Partner I work with on all of my cases is an afternoon riser so I get into the office later since I’m going to be in the office late every evening.

First year family law associate..I only have 1160 billable hours done for the year (I’m including what I expect to bill in December as well). Given I only make $80,000 a year, is that reasonable? Or is that a super low number and should I expect to be fired soon 😂. My target billables is supposed to be 1680 a year. Also my hourly rate is only $109 because all we do is legal aid here.

I am seeking advice on my first job as a lawyer out of law school. Fortunately, I received offers for an in-house position and with a law firm in their corporate department. The salary for the in-house position is $110k and $170k for the position at the firm. I have 2 questions.
(1) is it detrimental to my legal career if I go in house first; I hear there is no better training than firms. (2) how long can I wait until I respond to my offer from the law firm? Thank you!

Crossposting from Immigration Attorneys:
I’ve been practicing for 4 years, but new to the immigration practice. I recently submitted an I-129 for 15 H-2B landscape workers. I knew the deadline to beat the cap count would be close, but I convinced the client that we could take the chance. Unfortunately, the cap count was reached after we submitted, so no approval. Is there any other avenue to bring over those workers or is he screwed?
