Since I would be moving to the US for the first time, i really don't know if I should negotiate or if I would be able to.

Has anyone actually looked at the math, calculated, and compared a freelance day rate of about 1-1.2k, booked for whatever % of the year, versus a full time staff salary of say, 200k… at what numbers do they even out when you factor in taxes, health insurance, paid vaca time etc? Hard to say which is more lucrative with the variables, but, any insights?

I am currently working in big4 audit as a manager (20 LPA CTC), my wife is in a tax role in diff big 4, same CTC.

We have a Canada PR but are not getting jobs from here so will have to go there and apply. Average salary will be around CAD 80000-85000.

I have a job offer in NZ for 85000 NZD. My wife will be able to work, but will have to go there and find a job.

We are confused what to do, as she feels it will be harder to get a tax job in NZ. Looking for any advice.

I’m in the final rounds of my interview process for a NYC Hedge fund, non tech role. The recruiter mentioned the compensation package is bonus heavy which can be multiples of base salary. Though they will guarantee a full bonus (sign on + year end) for my first year. 300k target

My current role/company is salary focused so I’m out of my element negotiating the bonuses.

What type of questions should I ask the recruiter about the bonus payouts? Vesting?

But I’m having a hard time convincing hiring managers that my “non-traditional” background translates to marketing/comms roles. How do you break into corp world from journalism?

Hypothetically of course… if you broke up with an abusive ex, and you were under their phone plan and they cancelled your line and you went to the phone carrier and they said technically it’s the ex’s phone even tho you paid for it in full and did the monthly service payments.
