At a SaaS company I was at the AE base pay was 150k with OTE of 300k. Many of the AEs were not domain specialists or had deep passion for the space, but they could execute a sales campaign. You are undervalued if you can sell.
Sounds way low. If you enjoy sales and you’re really good, pivot to tech / SaaS sales to get 2-3x what you’re getting now.
Wow, spectacular idea! Salesforce and Gartner are both companies I will be looking into. Thank you for the input.
Compared to software, that’s pretty low. I would say jump ship. I’ve also heard the only way to get big increases in salary is when you move to another company.
In your interviews, during the final salary negotiations, you could bring up the fact that you have a big deal that you'd be leaving on the table. The hiring company should incentivise you with extra stock, salary or sign on bonuses to help offset the money you'd be leaving on the table. I've done this with success, and know others that have also
Rising Star
That number in tech as an acccount director would have you over 300k.. leave
Thank you for your input, this is the best plan I think. Time to make moves.
One thing to note, I have been receiving annual increases of 3%. I argue this is more a cost of living increase. I have asked for a $10k raise (12% raise) and am getting an insane amount of push-back and they want to put me on a “plan” with more goals to receive senior A.M. position and maybe 12 months I could receive that raise, and potentially that position of S.A.M.
Any advice? Perhaps logistics just doesn’t have enough upside and should pivot into software. I’m ready to continue working hard and make a significant impact no matter what company I represent.
You deserve better and many companies will see your value and compensate accordingly. Got get what you’re worth!
Put it into better context. I’m in HR tech and have 2 years of work experience and I made more last year. No reason your pay should be that low.
Thank you for your input, this certainly makes me feel better about the alternatives out there. I’m mad about how they handled it, and we had over an hour long zoom video conference asking me to explain why I’m worth a 12% raise!? I’m handling the whole sales cycles and look at the growth...
Yeah you could and should leave
Should be making way more! Any halfway decent tech company would pay you $150k+ for a similar role
Yes.
Thank you, all of the overwhelming feedback indeed confirmed my beliefs. I was able to negotiate a small raise last week, but not enough. Scoping out AE positions for tech companies currently. How do you like G? Are you an AE?
Get 👏🏼 Out 👏🏼 Of 👏🏼 Logistics 👏🏼
Thanks! I officially left logistics and just got a job selling Cloud Infrastructure! Boom! So excited and now my base is equivalent to my previous base+commission. With commission I have potential to double it if I Max it out!
Yes, you’re underpaid.
Update to all: I officially left logistics industry (it’s been damn crazy lately, so happy to be out.)

I just got a job selling Cloud Infrastructure! Boom! So excited and now my base is equivalent to my previous base+commission. With commission I have potential to double my income if I achieve full quota!
