Am nearly 40 and self care hasn’t been a thing sadly. Have only seen a gynecologist 1x about a decade ago and need to go again because of super heavy periods and clots. Plus am starting to care about my health. Any suggestions on non judgy doctor I can see in nyc? Tia.

You need to go every year!!!!!

like

I just went because I realized it has been two. This is a small step. Go to yoga, pick up a skin care routine, get your nails done!!! I try to do something new every 6 months and do each every few months

Honestly, I think most gynos are not judgy. They see and deal with so many situations. Just be honest that you haven’t been good about self care in the past but want to start doing better now and ask for some recommendations on what else you should be doing. Make sure you get a breast exam too!

Take care!

In Jersey City there is Dr. Zaheeda. She is very nice. Highly recommended.

Try “One Medical” it’s a boutique type of experience, they accept all insurance, the purpose is to have a more upscale experience going to doctors. They have many offices, you can FaceTime and message them on the spot via the app, it’s really easy and I find them non judgemental. Costs $200 a year for the membership. They offer all kinds of services including Gyno and wellness visits.

like

Don’t shame yourself or feel bad. Not everyone has same experience with accessing health care and people have very valid reasons to not go or not be able to get themselves to go.

Remember, you are worthy of become well cared for and just because someone is a medical provider does not mean that is the only person or expert to rely on as their personality match with yours is just as important especially for intimate gyno conversations.

Coming from another healthcare company as a SFA, does anyone have experience at either company? Seems like their culture is great, but a much higher work load due to the nature of the company. Thanks! Happy to answer DM's too

Mask mandates in the US for a certain amount of time will never work, it needs to be played like a game. There needs to be a goal (stanley cup) and strict enforcement (referees). Can’t just say “masks should be worn until 12/31”. There’s no incentive to wear a mask since they won’t cut it short if we do well and will extend it if we don’t do well. Also why a national mandate will do nothing. Imagine telling someone in NY they have to keep wearing masks because Cali can’t enforce anything

Goal would be to give this person an opportunity to grow into more senior roles as knowledge of pop health increases. Thoughts / suggestions appreciated.
