I wouldn't do it if I were you unless you're at a really bad firm right now or you hate your current job

I loveee American Express. Some of the best people Iāve ever worked with. Culture and WLB are šÆ
The WLB seems incredible. Did you work there or did you have a project there? If you worked there, did you see growth potential?
I remember reading a game theory piece that described the optimal time to pick a life partner as 1/3 of the way through the latest you want to be married. Before that, date around to learn what you want. After that, focus on what you want and worry less if thereās something better.
Long way of saying - donāt hesitate to jump early in your career for something that could be a better fit if consulting isnāt the end game, and youāll never know where to commit until you get more experience elsewhere.
I have been in the company over 15 years. Is this for a band 30 role? If so try looking for a band 35- manager level role instead. Amex is a great place to work so would certainly recommend it.
What is your offer if you donāt mind sharing?
How many YOE are you at? Relationship/kids?
Ah thatās tough. I was going to say if travel isnāt an issue or having to be there to help with kids, grind it out for another 2-3 years. But I 100% see the fiancĆ©s frustrations my gf hated it while I traveled every single week. It definitely took a toll on our relationship. Maybe try and stick with Big4 but find a way to work with leadership on less travel?
Iām currently interviewing for a data analyst position at American Express too. What was your interview process like ?
Btw did you end up getting this.
Also are you in Toronto?
I was looking for salary info too
Donāt do it
Why though? Because of the money? I should also note Iām trying to exit consulting to not travel any longer
In Amex, the pay isn't high enough to attract people, but the WLB indeed is astounding.
Its my first company, and my entire notion of the corporate world changed. Also i got what I asked during my negotiation, so I might be biased to an extent š
But since, analyst roles are in demand, the lateral/vertical switch could be much easier with subsequent hikes.
Iām going to try and counter and see what they sayā¦ are you guys fully remote? Do you see a world of 5 days in the office again? They were never really clear on that in the interview process
It will be hybrid for me. 2 days/week. Virtual is also getting accepted. I took otherwise just cause it's my first job and I want to explore the office culture. Most will be hybrid. Other than those that are required physically everyday based on their roles.
Its tough but what is the bonus that you will get. I believe 10% which should make up the 15k and if the company does well your bonus will be more. Also the benifits you get at AMEX are top notch. Also work life balance coming from being a consultant is top notch at AMEX.
Could you talk through some of the benefits?
Also AMEX has AMEX flex. Where you come in 2 to 3 times a week. Never 5 days again. Your role may also be available for fully remote depending on your manager.
OP did they meet your counter?
